I like OSE, but as a GM I just come alive with ASSH/Hyperborea. My family started playing again over Christmas. I started them slow with OSE, but it all exploded with Hyperborea. It was like nitrous oxide! They loved the options. They love the books (May have to pick up a few more). They just enjoy this game. Sad to see all of this caught up in a pathetic power play. But I got my books. I got my dice. I’m gonna keep playing this game!

I’m fine with the current policy. Hyperborea is set at “take my money.”

Yup! Figure that dinosaurs fit a lost island, but Hyperborea itself is too cold for them.

What bookmarks have been done? I’ve got them scattered through my books and would like to know when I can stop looking. 

Which ones are you partial to?

I think the layout and organization of Blue Medusa is awe inspiring, but Alice in Wonderland stuff just leaves me cold. Stonehell is evocative and interesting, but I got tired of the one page dungeon format after a while. Dwimmermount was soured by all of the travails getting the thing published. The Castle of the Mad Archmage is huge and evokes the spirit of Greyhawk, but it ended up leaving me cold. 

Barrowmaze remains my favorite. I love having dungeons filled with the undead. I am also partial to the various follow up Megadungeons that Mr. Gillespie has published.

What megadungeons have you all used?

Maybe not as much activity now, but should be free for ASSH gaming around Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Has there been any discussion as to the advantages of limiting spells to 6th level? 
It seems to me that some higher level play involves nerfing whatever spells and abilities characters have. By limiting the spell levels it seems that there is less incentive to nerf players and more of a chance for players to be creative. YMMV.

What t-shirts have been made for ASSH?
If there was a ghost ship one I am so going to kick myself for not getting it.

I am partial to the Clark Ashton Smith reprints from Necronomicon Press. They are hard to come by, but worth tracking down. The Book of Hyperborea and Tales of Zothique have stories that are all reprinted in the Collected Fantasies of Clark Ashton Smith series, but I do like being able to carry these stories in bite sized chunks. 

Chaosium has reprinted three volumes of different stories from Clark Ashton Smith, The Book of Eibon, The Tsathoggua Cycle and The Klarkash-Ton Cycle. The first two are all right, but there are a lot of other stories written by people playing around in Clark Ashton Smith’s sandbox. However, the Klarkash-Ton book is all Clark Ashton all of the time. It is very nicely done. 

I’ve also enjoyed the Averoigne Archives ebook.

It is wonderful to have so many books available of his work after it being so hard to find for so long. I would also say that it is wonderful having a game that points back to its source material so well.
