Rules Discussion » D&D 5E to Hyperborea for Caverns of Thracia? » 8/24/2024 12:18 pm |
There are online "converters" from 5e to OD&D back and forth. It might be worth a try.
Swordsmen & Sorcerers » Benefits of playing a basic class? » 8/24/2024 12:17 pm |
I gave to "basic" fighters te ability for forced marches (CN based) and more encumbrance.
Announcements » HYPERBOREA Iconic Character Art by Charles Lang » 2/25/2024 8:05 pm |
I miss the ashtonishing art of AS&SH 1e art, 2e art was fine, but 3e art it seems to be a matter of time to get used to, but it really fits the setting! One of my friends bought Hyperborea 3e, and we're about to start our new campaign.
General Discussion » Will WotC destroying the previous ODL sink Hyperborea? » 1/16/2023 5:02 pm |
Will AS&SH migrate to another rule system because of the Hasbro/WotC's d*ck move?

Please tell me that Men of Leng, etc. are not becoming "persons of Leng" or some other politically correct term. I'm in on the KS for the new edition of The One Ring and they dropped the alpha rules today and people are actually whining because "Men of Bree" is a culture, as opposed to calling them "Bree-folk," or some other supposedly more progressive & inclusive term.
The Evil cannot create just corrupts.
HYPERBOREA 3E » What makes it a Third Edition? » 7/16/2021 8:03 pm |
I've been out of gaming sice march, then I look in to this forum and got this huge announcement! Thank you for your hard work, Ghul, and thanks to all other players and posters who carry the hyperborian torch.
Hyperborea » Dreamlands/Kadath » 9/19/2020 3:59 pm |
I've been using that setting for my own campaign (sadly my group does not like the THAC0 system, and I had to switch to our old homebrew system.)
General Discussion » Atlantean Amphibiousness » 8/15/2020 7:49 pm |
We resolve this issue when we have our first Atlantean PC, a recessive genetic adaptation to low metablism and mioglobine usage (meaning an interracial offspring would never develop that ability hence the "reproductive incompatibility"), just like most of amphibious mammals, and we have an earthly tribe developing those traits, the Sea Nomads in Polinesia.. In game terms, they got a +8% to CN checks when swimming and 2x time underwater. All other rules about swimming and drowning apply.

Hyperborea » The God Rel » 5/19/2020 10:05 pm |
Look at Odin's crows, and Morgan from Celtic myths. For Rel, think on tricksters...
General Discussion » Magical Corruption for ASSH and other Retroclone RPGs » 10/02/2018 11:44 am |
I think this one is better than the one I'm overly complexly homebrewing...

I'm homebrewing my own system, and I'll post it for you to roast.
Rules Discussion » Ascending AC against Descending AC » 10/02/2018 11:39 am |
Alright, pals, thank you for all the lols.. I have to say we got stuck on Palladium Books combat system since we played Rofts for almost ten years. It was very hard for most of my group going back to Descending AC. I'll keep this system in order to see how to make their thick skulls to get in to the idea.
Rules Discussion » Ascending AC against Descending AC » 9/26/2018 2:05 pm |
In my group we switched to Ascending AC, and they we turned it into an "Defensive Bonification"... We roll our DB+1d20 against the attack roll. Any words of counseling?
General Discussion » Corruption... » 9/26/2018 2:01 pm |
I've been working on a Corruption system for magic users, and since priests use power form otherworldly entities, could they be suffering the same consequences?
Rules Discussion » House Rules past Level 12 » 9/23/2018 11:47 am |
Considering one level from one to six could be equal to one year of life, and one level from seven to twelve could be two years each... 12 level as an adventurer, starting at 15yo, and you'll be an old and seasoned legend at 33yo, with a life span of 45 years?
