“By Ullr’s hoary balls,” Sigrun muttered under her breath at the sight of the ormr. Was her god so pitiless against her, she thought? Stoic still, the Viking pointed to trail west that would take everyone to her campsite beyond the southern ridge. “Follow me. Hopefully the ormr will stop to eat the rest of the dead beast men and not chase us.”

With that Sigrun lopes away, throwing a glance over her shoulder at both the giant lizard beast and the others.

OOC: GM, if this is Sigrun’s hunting area would she know of a safer place? A cave?

Sigrun crouchs and slowly backs away until it is safe to turn and run quietly back to the group. “The great beast is back. We must leave, now!”

Sigrun ignores the deer, knowing they didn’t break the branches and tree limbs. They are running away from something.

“I’m going to investigate,” she states, loping off toward the sound with shield and spear ready.

Sigrun eyes the barbarian she had laid flat with some amusement as he vents.  When he is done, she eyes him cooly while replying to all of them.  "I follow the game for much of my needs, so I have no need for cave or cabin.  I was about to make a lean to when the beast men came 'round.  I've done what I could for Votin here, stitching his mighty wounds with flax thread and applying poultices to draw out any poisons or infections.  To move him any further would rip his wounds open.  When the sun rises we shall know if your friend lives or dies.  Right now, there is only a fire.  If everyone agrees, I shall go and check my traps and hunt for game to eat."

OOC: If Sigrun has any roots, tubers, nuts, berries, and/or jerky, she'll hand over her bag for them to  share.  I'm sure she has a skin of water or some harsh fermented brew.

What is this squatting in the dirt about? You're a hunter, show us to your cabin or cave, and light a fire

OOC: Good question. Iron Ranger, what does Sigrun have for shelter? Anything permanent?

Sigrun turned to face the voice, seeing the two shadows approaching. She recognized Tillak’s voice, and grew wary at the one he had called Kondor.  Would he come vengeful, seeking revenge, or peacefully? She held her spear ready but relaxed her posture.

“Come in peace, then,” Sigrun replied, her hard eyes on Kondor. “He is alive, but barely. No miracle was ever worked by my hand. That is up to the gods.”

Sigrun is on the alert for external threats as her two charges rest, her spear ready to be brought to bear.

After assisting Gondrabu with the near dead barbarian in getting him down from the steep slope, Sigrun helps the man get comfort and rests on her haunches. “I would rather us find a place not so exposed, but he should not be moved. He needs rest, and sleep. We will no in the ‘morrow if the gods favor him with life.  You sleep as well, Gondrabu. I will stay and watch over you two.”

[But what exactly does the viking do?]

Sigrun will attempt to staunch the flow of blood, suture his wounds, stuff them with herbs and medicinal plants to stave off infection. Anything she can do to help stabilize him.

Sigrun will first look for a shallow section to ford. If none is available, is there a canoe on her side of the stream? Maybe a fallen tree that has spanned some of the stream? Barring any of these, she will then divest herself of shield, bow, arrows, spear and outer furs and cross where she thinks is best.

[Sigrun +200XP]

The stream looks very shallow, calf deep.

Oh, good. The first one.

Sigrun will cross the stream and kneel down beside the prone man,  “I’ll see what I can do, but I promise nothing,” she tells Gundrabu.

OOC: Is there anything Sigrun can do? Sewing wounds shut with catgut and bone needle/hook? Stuffing wounds with chewed plants that would both coagulate blood and fight infection?

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier. I live in Lynchburg, so maybe something can happen. You know others that can play?

Once Sigrun gets the fire going, she tells Tillak to tend to it before heading off to check on the dead. She makes sure her movements are none threatening to the one Tillak named Gondrabu and when she’s close enough, Sigrun will shout out, “Gondrabu? Your comrades Tillak and Kondor are up on yon ridge. Both are alive. Is there anything I can help you with? If not, I will hunt us some food to eat.”

It was strange, she thought, talking to humans again. It had been many winters since the last of her hunting party had died.

“Come to my camp and I’ll get the fire going again. I’ll help you with your brother.” Sigrun will help Tillak drag Kondor over to the small ring of stones in the middle of the clearing. Then she will crouch low to the fire and breathe life to the embers, keeping the two within sight.
