That's very good Jeff! Never heard of them before. I'll work on a AS&SH playlist as soon as I have a social life coming back my way. Being a Head Chef in a buzy restaurant in Montreal around Xmas season doesn't help hahaha

I noticed you guys mentioned a couple of my dear friends metal bands in this thread. Especially Unexpect. Those guys (and girls) are like 13 peoples on stage... anyway all I wanted to say is that I love metal music and I'm really, truly happy to find this "Never noticed until tonight "Music"" thread!

Let's put together a youtube playlist. Astonishing style!

While at The Love Garden (a used records and CDs shop in Lawrence, KS), I picked up two albums by The Sword (who coincidentally play live there next weekend), and two by the local KC band Merlin I discovered via a FB ad (you can check out their Electric Children album @ http://merlin666.bandcamp.com/ ).

Sharing a great new band I discovered this past weekend at a music festival here in Iowa. The band is called 'Green Death' ... no shite ... they're called 'Green Death' ... (I thought I must share this with the group as soon as possible). They are an Iowa band and they fully shred ... think a modern take on old school Thrash Metal (early 'tallica ... Exodus ... Anthrax .. Testament ... Slayer ... those guys) ... Check 'em out if you dig that kinda stuff ... oh, and they have Cthulhu on their first album cover ... c'mon? what's not to like? http://www.greendeathband.com/web/

It is inspired by Dante's Inferno. Very good stuff, though not as "metal" as earlier albums, from what I've read. This is my first exposure to their work.

When did I get into stoner rock? I partially blame AS&SH for leading me into this. ;-)

Good stuff! Yeah, the nomenclature is somewhat misleading, I think, because before I started listening to all these bands (I think the first one I discovered was Mastodon), the term 'stoner rock' would have conjured an image of sloppy music, but in contrast these bands are tight.

PS: credit "measuredrums" for discovering Green Death.

Sounds like they spent some time fever dreaming and sweating in the same mines that Ghul did.

I didn't think I'd like this, but then I couldn't stop listening from start to finish. A lot of Iommi channeling going on with the guitar player, which is always a win for me.
