Apologies for the thread necromancy, but in my post above, I stated: "I have found how to handle the [AD&D] movement rate conversions elsewhere on the forums." Now, for the life of me, I am unable to find where that conversion is here on the forums.

Anyone able to point me to it?

Thank you.

Thanks for the insight into the thinking behind the rules. I appreciate it.

Thanks for the responses, all.

I think they mechanically could work like the AD&D ones, and I have found how to handle the movement rate conversions elsewhere on the forums, but does the XP work as is from AD&D?
Thats the part I wasn't sure about converting over.

Hi all,

Has anyone converted over the various AD&D Monster Manual Dragons to AS&SoH?

Growing up, my idea of Swords & Sorcery was not only influenced by Howard, Vance, Moorcock, and Lovecraft, but also by some of the cheesy movies like Dragonslayer (as well as picking up my neighbor's Monster Manual and reading it every time I got a chance). So I would definitely like to add them to Hyperborea.

I can probably do a somewhat decent conversion, but I don't have the experience with the system that some of you probably have, so I wanted to ask the community if anyone had already made an attempt?

Thank you.

I think I answered my own question as I went back to read the Combat section and realized that in my example above, the Fighter could 1/2 Move and Attack all in Phase One, so he would get to the Orc and attack before the Orc moved away..

What happens in the following situation:

Declaration:
- Fighter says he wants to move to the Orc 15’ away and attack.
- GM decides Orc wants to move 15’ to the door (15’ further away from the fighter) and open it.

Initiative is rolled and Fighter wins.

Phase One:
- Fighter moves 15’ toward the Orc and ends up next to him.
- Orc Moves 15’ away towards the door.

Phase Two:
- Does Fighter get an attack as the Orc moves away in Phase One as if the Orc was fleeing?
-or-
- Fighter is SoL because Orc moved away, and now can’t attack?

Thanks, in advance, for the clarification.

Hi all,

Are there any guidelines to converting Monsters over from AD&D?
Would mainly like to know how XP are calculated for monsters.

Thanks.

*EDIT TO ADD: Nevermind. I missed the XP table on p.294. I was looking for it in the Experience heading in the Referee volume.*

I like the idea of adding Melniboneans into Hyperborea.

If I end up doing anything, it will be figuring out a way to do that.

Hi all,

A bit of thread necromancy.

AD&D limited levels for Demihuman characters in order to balance their abilities with those of Humans.

If you were going to include AD&D style Demihumans in AS&SofH, what would you do to balance out
their extra abilities against humans (since the level cap is 12 for everyone)?

Thanks.
