What's your favorite Bond flick? Anyone ever play the James Bond box set rpg?

I watched 'You Only Live Twice' last eve. Had never seen it. Now I know where Austin Powers comes from.
Not sure if it's my favorite (probably not), but I had a great time watching it. Very entertaing film. Like the opening/intros on these films especially.

You Only Live Twice is one of my favorite Bond themes:

The Spy Who Loved Me has one of the best Bond opening sequences ever:

"But James I need you!"
"So does England!"

Great links, Griffith. I know Connery is most popular, but when I was young it was Roger Moore whose Bond movie I was seeing, so he's my favorite.

Goldfinger and Live and Let Die are my favorites of what I think of as being the "early" Bond (Connery through Moore). Thunderball comes close to Goldfinger, but I keep leaning towards the earlier film.

My favorites from the classic films are Goldfinger and From Russia with Love, You Only Live Twice and Dr. No are up there too. I'll probably catch hell for this, but I have a fondness for On Her Majesty's Secret Service as well.

Anyone ever read the paperbacks? I got my hands on a bunch of them when I was a teenager and remember enjoying them quite a bit!

I like the opening and parkour chase for Craig's Casino Royale and the one for Golden Eye. Cool bits of action.

I think the Connery movies are my favorites but I like the gadgets of the Moore era. Bronson and Dalton were uneven, blame the cold war I guess and the lack of SPECTRE. Craig's done ok but it seems like he's out to pasture now.

I think I would like to read the books, just to see how much of the crazy puns and entendre's are Fleming's.

That is a great scene! I always try to catch at least that part when Casino Royale shows up on TV.

Skyfall was also very good. One of the best Bond film in many years!

Has anyone checked out Classified? It's a clone of the James Bond 007 RPG from the 1980s, which I had as a kid and recently reread. It looks pretty cool! Not sure how it plays for parties, but it's a fun-looking game. Anyone have any experience with the clone?

I played a few sessions of Top Secret bitd, but not Classiified.

I have also heard good things about Flying Buffalo's Mercenaries, Spies, and Private Eyes, but haven't played that one either...

I've read several of the books (but not all), and enjoyed all of them. I've liked the flims too. The recent Daniel Craig films are excellent---I really like his take on the character, it's much closer to Fleming's writings---although I wasn't as into Skyfall. I'm happy to hear that Craig is doing a 4th film (apparently entitled Spectre, according to Wiki, and releasing 2 days prior to my birthday!).

I've thought about picking up Classified (I like Joe Browning's work), but I still have Top Secret, so I probably won't bother, since I play spy games so rarely....

I've read several of Flemming's Bond books and enjoyed them. Dr. No is a decent story, but suffers from many production problems that I blame on early low budgets and figuring out how they want to do the films. I've enjoyed the Craig reboot so far and am glad to know there is a 4th in the works. I, too, liked On Her Majesty's Secret Service, wish he'd stuck with the part. I think he could have made a better Bond than did Moore.

I have Top Secret, but none of my players does, so it would be hard, esp. for a one-off since it's a fairly crunchy game. I just received Classified in the mail from Lulu. Looks nice!

I ran a Top Secret game in college, but it was inspired by reading The Illuminatus Trilogy, so it was very far from a straight "spy" campaign. At one point a PC was drugged and buried alive in Haiti and thought he was a zombie for a couple of sessions. At another point all of the PCs were hypnotically regressed to their past lives in Renaissance Italy, and spent four sessions engaged in skullduggery with the Borgias. Good times...

Well, a local buddy of mine gave me an extra copy he had of the James Bond 007 RPG by Victory Games(1983) recently. Now we have 4 dudes wrangled up to have a go at it soon. One guy has experience running it .

I am going to start making up a character here shortly.

Not sure if anyone here owns this or has actually played it. It looks fun and has a better rep in some circles than Top Secret.

I had it when I was a kid and rolled up some characters, certainly, though I don't have a specific memory of playing it.

That said, my sister finally(!) found a box of my old stuff and sent it up, and the JBRPG was in it so I read it again a couple of years ago. It seems like a fantastic game. Have you checked out Classified, the new-ish clone (Joseph Browning / Expeditious Retreat Press)? I picked that up, too, and it seems great.

Scab Bond, but Telly Savalas and a very HOT Diana Rigg, some very cool cars and a decent plot. This movie is supposedly very highly ranked amongst Bond nerds. Possibly too many skiing scenes for me but I liked it overall.

Lazenby doesn't get much respect, but I found OHMSS to be one of the best of the franchise.
