This weekend's game will mark one year since we switched to AS&SH--23 sessions!--and we haven't looked back!
We're on our third party after two TPKs. The first was based in the Gal HIlls and was killed by giant ticks while exploring a strange wrecked ship in a swamp. We shifted to Brigands Bay and based things around periodic explorations of the great dungeon Kihago beneanth strange ruins. Then there was the curious incident of falling in the monster-generating pit while running away in a giant head on the way there . . . but the next bunch of hopefuls is doing OK! A couple of PCs are third level, several are second.
I'm really happy to have found AS&SH. It scratched an itch I didn't even know I had, something that Patrick Wetland's ASE was revealing but not quite satisfying for me. I''m also totally psyched to have found the people on this forum, a bunch of hoopy froods all.
My only regret is that we can't play more often. Stupid jobs/families/pets/hangovers--be more Hyperborean!
Actually, the hangovers can be pretty Hyperborean.
Onward!

That's fantastic! I'm so happy to hear this. Keep us in the loop as things progress!

Well put. I can relate entirely; upon reading it for the first time, it just clicked. It sounds like it's been a fun year of gaming for you.
I've heard ASE mentioned frequently. Do you find that it's a good fit with AS&SH or were you running it with a different system? Would you recommend it?
