Re: Dice!

Looks like there are a few sets of 1985 "vintage" Diamond Dice still available on eBay. Anyone interested might want to take a look.

Re: Dice!

Thank you guys.  I actually lurk around this place for quite a while already.  Seeing these wonderful old Gamescience dice and reading Benoist's statement, I thought it time for a first posting.

Re: Dice!

Glad you did! You always make the joint classier!

Is there any other news out of Germany lately, I wonder ...?

Re: Dice!

Thank you, good Sir!

With new you mean except for the fact that our soccer team beat Brazil 7-1 last night?

Re: Dice!

These are the two sets that I am currently most likely to be using.

The translucent Game Science and casino dice set had been my favorite, however I have recently been using the opaque set more. I acutally just pulled the trigger on four sets of the opaque Diamond Dice off eBay, so I might be putting the kryptonite set in semi-retirment back in the Crown Royal bag.

Re: Dice!

Pretty sure it's a d20 numbered 0-9 twice, with colors to indicate ones or tens.

Or did you mean who made it? Cause if so, I feel dumb.

Re: Dice!

Not sure--but I am pretty sure I have that d20--and colored in in the same way!

Those obsidian dice are brutal...any players in his game should watch out for those

Great dice chest!  I am always interested in how everyone carries these things around too.  I have seen a few too many Crown Royal bags recently and they, personally, are starting to loose their appeal.

I have my 'first set of dice' (managed to hold on to them from about age ten or eleven remarkably) which is always special and some other big marble ones that add a nice thud to the damage rolls.  I do have a bit of a quirky addition to my dice box however which has become a fun mainstay now.  About 15 years ago, I received a gift of a bar of masters soap for hobby paint brush and hand cleaning.  This ended up in a dice box, that I also received as a gift, for simple transportation from the party.  That soap has since remained in my various dice boxes and has become 'the scent' of RPGs at my place.  I will probably never open it.  I put dice back into that box after bad performances for cleaning...

One of my best friends also custom made dice boxes with our initials and inlaid mother of pearl into the box.  A little gold leaf accent on the inside was a nice touch as well.  I guess the hobbyist in us creeps out into the rpg world from time to time.

Re: Dice!

Very cool, man! I need something cooler than a plastic baggy for my dice. It's just so damn convenient for traveling, as it takes up almost no space and can always be jammed in a backpack or pocket.

Anyway, keep the pics coming. I'll snap a pic of the rest of my dice tomorrow morning.

Re: Dice!

And they have arrived!

Man, it has been a long time since I have used crayons. More recently I have used very fine Sharpie markers, but I decided to take it all the way back with these. Now, the question is: which colors do I go with?

Re: Dice!

Cool man! I just got a few sets myself (light red, dark red, light blue, dark blue, clear orange), even though I need more dice like I need a hole in my head...

Anyway, from left to right, I would probably go black, white, black, black, white.

Hey man, I've got like 64 colors in that box of crayons! I'm thinking about going a little more Skittles on these dice and tasting the rainbow.

You've got a lot of options! The only thing I would advise is go light with the red, orange, and dark blue sets, and go dark with the light purple and light blue sets. Contrast is key!

Re: Dice!

I'll definitely be going for contrasting colors. I started with the dark blue last night, so far I'm really liking the yellow numbers.

The purple is what's vexing me. I had thought a bright green might look good with it, but now I'm thinking that might prove to be too light.
