The mutes are standing at the narrow steps carved out of the stone wall leading down under this kitchen.
They hesitate, looking back to see if the shaman wants to lead the way down as he enters the room.

Turok looks at the pair and senses their hesitation...gripping his warclub he moves forward down the stairs.
"Fine...I'll go first!"

The mutes try not to look relieved.

Staying vigilant Turok carefully descends the stairs with the pair behind him...he hopes.

Turok squeezes into the narrow 2ft wide passage. The steps are steep and descend quickly 15ft down and opening into a small room crowded with wooden racks filled with green glass bottles. There is a large carcass of a wolf at the in the room. There is a large carcass of a hound at the base of the stair. There has been another fairly recent firepit here.
The mutes breathe heavy at the nape of Turok's neck as they peer over his shoulders.

Turok enters the room, if just to give him some personal space from the pair...
He looks at the carcass of the wolf then moves to the racks with the green bottles, he carefully eyeballs them without touching.

The wolf carcass is frozen solid. At some point it was carved into and portions of its meat removed.
The side eye at the bottles on the shelves doesn't glean much new info. Dusty, stoppered. There are opened empty bottles scattered on the stone floor. There is broken green glass at the base of each of the three wooden racks as well.

Turok picks up one of the stoppered bottles and removing the stopper takes a faint whiff of the contents...similarity he does the same for the empty bottles.
He looks through the shelves and then focuses on the room examining the walls...he also takes a hard look at the carcass but touches it lightly not wanting to offend any spirits present.

The bottle is cold. The stopper is brittle but Turok gets it out without damage. The contents are faintly sweet smelling and frozen solid. The empty bottles do not have a scent.
The shelves hold several dozen more bottles. All appear to be frozen solid. At the base of the far row of bottles on the middle rack is a loose 2ft long piece of metal the diameter of Turok's finger.

Narrhil and Tillak hear movement outside of the dome chamber.

With an ungloved hand Turok holds it close to the rod to see how cold it is....if it is safe he will he will move it with his dagger...if there are no ill effects Turok will examine it more closely.

Narrhil listens at the secret door, "there was savages patrolling the temple, I rushed down here to make sure you were safe, and glad to find that you are well again Master Tillak, but I have no idea of their disposition. We have not had a safe haven in this lands. Last thing that came at me was six Hell Hounds and I was lucky to survive. Thing is the foolish dogs have a master, somewhere in the hills and he had sent the pack to invite me to conflab, but honestly I believe it was overkill, and it might have been bring him, alive or dead!"
"They are dead now, as I destroy the lot...!" Indicating his magical wand of freezing, which he now held in his hand.

Turok moves deeper between the racks.
He holds his hand over the steel rod. It doesn't radiate any heat.
He is able to roll it away from the bottles to the back wall with the daggertip.
It's now in a more difficult spot to examine it more closely though.

There is definite movement in the cellar beyond the crawl. More than one creature. Very hard to tell exactly what is going on out there with this stone door closed.

"We can only hope they do not locate the secret door," says Narrhil.

Turok slides the bottles out of the way with his bare hand and tries to pick the rod up and bring it into the open for a better look.

"I wonder what this is used for? could it possibly be magical?"

That was a human voice Narrhil and Tillak just heard through the door.
