The party walks the balcony in watches. Trying not to catch the attention of the
guards patrolling the court yard.
During Dai's and Xenocrates' watch Xenocrates hears struggling from what he thinks is the room
below.
He jumps over the balcony and successfully rolls as he hits the ground minimize the impact.
Xeno sees a window and looks in. The faint light from the 2:20am sunrise does little to help
see inside, but he does make out some movement. He clumsily jumps through the window cutting
himself on the shards.
He can see 2 of the beds empty with the blankets messed up. The people that were sleeping
were awakened with Xeno's crashing.
The door to the room is ajar and Xeno goes to it and looks around.
He sees the empty dining hall but does see the door to the kitchen slowly swinging to a stop.
He goes to it and peeks in and can't see much, but goes in. The dim light shows only a
stove with embers, a door to the outside and another door.
Xeno checks the door and finds a larder with only food in it.
Just then a guard comes into the kitchen from the door to outside.
Xeno answers the guard's questions, trying to explain he heard someone struggling and went to
help. The guards sends him back to his room.
When he gets back he shares what he saw.
Agathe decides to go sneaking about.
She goes down stairs and into the kitchen.
She is able to find a trap door in the ceiling of the larder and goes up.
She finds herself in a stair case and she takes them up.
At the end of the stairs is a door. She listens at it. She hears snoring and two voices
speaking very low and quietly. She can't understand what they are saying.
She tries to open the door put it's locked. This causes the conversation to stop.
Agathe casts invisibility and steps back from the door. She hears it unlock and then it
is opened with a guard looking out. She recognizes him as one of the people standing around
a greasy, doughy man in the dining hall.
The guard looks back into the room and shrugs at someone inside. He closes and locks the door.
Agathe goes back down the stairs and into the kitchen. She investigates more.
She does find a hidden alcove next to the larder. Inside she founds a trap door in the
floor. There she finds a tunnel.
Agathe goes back and gets everyone.
They follow the tunnel until it ends in the ruined foundation that is filled with sand.
The tracks are relatively easy to follow.
Barefeet and Large bare feet head roughly southwest deeper into the ruins of the city. Other bare feet meander and have dragging steps.
Eventually only the large bare feet tracks are left and the party keeps following them.
As the trudge on they start to hear drums in the distance.
Getting closer they hear screams as well.
They crest a dune and look down into a gruesome encampment. Four victims are tied to a pyre. Eight men in loin cloths, some in chains, are howling, chanting, flagellating themselves, and crying out to Kthulu.
As they dance they can be heard saying, "“Great Kthulhu sent the masters to free us from captivity!", "We eat the flesh of man in dread Kthulhu’s honour, as the masters teach!", and "We will rule again in Xambaala, and all shall revere mighty Kthulhu, devourer of our enemies!"
The pyre is lit.

Xenokrates shoots his bow to take a victim out of their misery. Niamh hits
one with a bullet from her sling and Dai with his bow but it's not enough to end their suffering.
Agathe goes invisible and starts walking silently towards the enemies.
Tentheta runs towards the fire while everyone else moves up slowly and continue the
missile attacks.
Xenokrates mercy kills another but misses with his second arrow.
The people eaters run towards the party. Two get to Tentheta and the rest almost get to the party.
They all swing ferociously but wildly in their frenzy.
Xenokrates fells one with his sword while Saghano cracks one with her staff.
Niamh shoots her magic missiles into the one attacking her but it is not enough to stop it.
Dai hits but does not kill his enemy but Tentheta crushes the skull of hers. The second one attacking
Tentheta does land a punch on tentheta. As does the one attacking Dai.
Dai's two blows with his broadsword ends the life of the people eater. Tentheta continues her onslaught
by killing the other attacker.
Niamh takes another step back to cast her final magic missiles and kills her opponent. Saghano also
kills her attacker.
Xenocrates fatally stabs the penultimate foe as Agathe finishes off the last one with a vicious backstab.
Finding nothing in their search of the area they follow the less numerous tracks heading towards the southeast.
The follow the tracks until off in the distance they see what looks to be the remains of a palace.
They cautiously approach and see the tracks leading to the front door.

Decide to go back to the caravanersai and sneak in via the secret tunnel.
They go out the kitchen door to the outside an walk in to the dining hall.
Talk to to some traders. They are discussing the disappearances and how
much it might affect their business.
Xenocrates and Agathe join the conversation. He asks if the disappearances
are normal for Xambaala or what? They answer that it is unusual and
only here. Nothing like it in Yithorium or at the various places they
trade with.
With that everyone decided to call it a night.

The trek back to the palace ruins is without incident.
They walk up to the large double doors and Agathe picks the locks
and goes in. Niamh's owl flies in a bit and comes back.
Tentheta and Dai lead the way in and fall into a covered pit 15 feet inside
the door. It's 12 feet deep and 7 feet wide.
As Xenocrates lowers a rope he feels a sting as a dart hit him. He has a reaction
to it but nothing beyond that. They can't see where the attack is coming from.
Agathe casts Invisibility a goes exploring.
Two more attacks and they notices small holes in the south wall. At the same time
Agathe sees 4 of the loin cloth clad men leaving a room and attacke Dai and Tentheta
just after they get out of the pit.
The are quickly killed by a Tentheta, Dai, Saghano's Weird War Hammer, and Xenocrates' bow.
As they do that 2 more come out of the room but they are killed quickly.
The group now has time to take in the courtyard.
It is open to the sky with intact and crumbled columns. There are remains of frescoes on the walls
and there are stairs leading to nowhere. The stairs are choked with vines and have human skeletons
in them at the bottom of the stairs.
Sand chokes the south end where the wall has fallen in
Agathe checks the door in the northeast of the courtyard.
Finding no traps or locks she opens it into a long hallway.
