Kéet plays around with the hat, tying the ear flaps in the back, to not cover his ears but maybe provide some warmth to his neck. "Wow Narhill, I couldn't hear a thing. I guess if you're going to ring a bell all day something like this could come in handy. Or if we run into any harpies." He will then follow him back down.
It's a cowl, there are no ear flaps, but Keet pulls the thing down off his head and around his neck. They descend the snow covered rickety wooden steps.

"Our a dragon's roar, or a sonic spell that deafen. A good find indeed!" He follows Kéet down the stairs.

"There is nothing of interest here, though I believe Master Kéet found a magical cowl that can protect his ears from loud noises, thought it makes him deaf when he dons it!" He says with a half-smile. "I say we return to the kitchen, eat more, rest perhaps. The problem with us magic-users is we need to rest to keep relearning our spells!"

[Indeed. KEET +500 XP for acquiring the Cowl of Silence.]

"It's quite stylish too." Keét follows in order to eat more.

The ground here in the courtyard is only lightly covered as if very little snow fell here or something melted it away. So there is not much to leave footprints in.
[NARRHIL roll vs INT.]

"I'm not sure. There was no one up there." Keêt also looks around in an opposite sweep that Narrhil does.

Something amiss, Narrhill jumps back up a few steps, and from here he can see clearly 2 things he missed before.
1. The snow on the courtyard ground is lighter in circle patterns.
2. There are his, Keet's, and another set of footprints he did not notice before but that Keet must have seen clearly on the steps before he climbed up.

"Oh jeez. That reminds me. I saw those and that's whey I threw my dagger. I didn't see anyone up there though. Be right back." Kéet will go and fetch his dagger.
