Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Keét looks around at his immediate surroundings on the landing, then takes in the greater area of the grounds.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The footprints are jumbled up on the landing as if someone stood around for a while and moved to and fro back and forth around to the other side of the landing Keet is not on. To your right, hanging from a metal peg on the back of a timber strut, is a two foot piece of black leather.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

"What is this I wonder?" Keét whispers to himself. Then,  "Hey guys, I think it is okay for you to come up here and take a look. It's quite the view."
Keét will examine the black leather as well as the metal peg.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Narrhil looks up, 'trust and good fortitude,' he thinks to himself, and starts up the wooden stairwell.

Keét will examine the black leather as well as the metal peg.

The metal peg is a simple small spike hammered into the belfry framing. The leather unfolds becoming a dense cowl.

Narrhil rounds the rickety stairs and arrives at the upper landing with Keet.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Keét closely examines the cowl and if it doesn't look like it's going to eat him, he'll put it on. "Look at this, finally something to keep my ears warm." He says to Narrhil.

[OOC: Guess who didn't get the emails.]

The cowl is heavy and fits nicely, whatever Narrhil says back, Keet only sees his lips move.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

"Narrhil, "aye, in this weather I glad for my silver fox fur cap. Pity, whatever happened to that magical ring that kept me warm," he says looking at his stained hands. "What happens to the ringer to this bell? ah, burnt by the fire." Narrhil examines the copper bell, wishing he still had a detect magic spell to use.

Narrhill indeed longs for the warmth of that ring again as the bitter wind whips his furs atop this belfry.
The bell is old much older than this church.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

[Can he define any symbols on it, he looks inside and outside of the bell?]

It looks smooth from this distance. It's 12 feet over your head.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

"I said, YES, IT GOOD TO HAVE A  HAT TO KEEP YOU WARM IN THIS WEATHER!"

Narrhil turns to looks around him, trying to see if he can get a better view of what is below him, or the land as far as the magical light spell can show him.

His words seem to fall on deaf ears.

The sphere of light illuminates the belfry. It bathes out to the broken double front doors below, on the other side of landing where you are standing. To you right, it lights the snowfall out across the roof of room where all sleep and you found the spoon and wellpacked backpack inside the mattress. To your left the courtyard lit below with your companions and the kitchen's two broken out windows across the way. Behind you the sphere tapers off at the cemetery.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Kèet removed the hat from his head and cocks his head looking at Narrhil.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Narrhil looks at Kéet, also in some confusion, "Is there a problem Master Kéet?" He asks.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Narrhil cannot see anything more than what he knows from previous explorations of the ruined church. The bell is too high from him to examine at present and he thinks it is time to get back to the cosy fire in the kitchen and plan their trip once they enter the portal, they should have enough food, water, and light. Perhaps they could rest and he can relearn his light spell.

The sounds of the wind and the world return to Keet's ears.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Kéet plays around with the hat, tying the ear flaps in the back, to not cover his ears but maybe provide some warmth to his neck. "Wow Narhill, I couldn't hear a thing. I guess if you're going to ring a bell all day something like this could come in handy. Or if we run into any harpies." He will then follow him back down.
