"Beastmen? There are many near here." Tillak raises his shield and takes a martial stance.

The 2 adventurers gauge the cramped quarters and wonder how they'll fight, If only these 2 giant wolf carcasses had been left upstairs...they lament.

[OOC: I thought they were just wolves? So, they the size of horses?]

Tillak strains to discern how many people are upstairs based on the number of voices that he hears.

Tillak thinks he heard at least 4 distinct voicings.

"Narrhil, I think that there are at least four of them," Tillak whispers to the cryomancer.

"Aye, if it be Beastmen, we are in trouble," he replies to Tillak.
"I've warned you, respond, or die!" He calls up the stairway...

A barrage of rocks come flying down the stone stairwell!
The first 2 (4,7) clang off Tillak's shield but the 3rd (18!) smacks his face!
[Tillak -4 HP!]
Others (4, 9) miss their mark but the last (18!) strikes Narrhil!
[Narrhil -2HP]

Tillak will wait until Narrhil casts his spell, and then He'll charge up the stairs, into the fray!

Much surprised at the astuteness of these creatures, who did not even grunt in surprise at his call, and behave like well trained assassins, for if they had grunted in the wrong way, he would have destroyed them.
Narrhil let loose a blast from his 'Wand of Freezing,' up the stairwell...
[OOC: Narrhil Morrtos rolls d6 = 5.
Narrhil Morrtos (WoF) rolls 9d4+9 = 4 +1 +4 +2 +4 +4 +2 +2 +2 + 9 = 34
Cryomancer's Rerolls any 1s = d4 = 2 = Total Frost damage: 35.]

Ass soon as the spell is cast, Tillak charges up the stairs.

The blast flies up the stairwell. You hear 4 solid thuds against the stone floor, then an immediate series of barks and yells! [Narrhill +420 XP]

Tillak charges up the stairs as fast as he can squeeze in his armour and shield and warpick out!
Finally at the top of the stair, he can make out from flickering torchlight coming from the chapel - four beastmen bodies frozen at the cellar door, blocking his entrance into the room.
There are loud voices in the chapel and the sounds of weapons!

"Narhill, to arms!" If Tillak can push past the beastmen's corpses, he does so.

Narrhil rushes after Tillak. He has no qualms about using the wand again, if needed.
He is satisfied with his destruction of the foe, but feels vulnerable being so wounded...
He is also inspired by his new comrades enthusiasm and tries to keep behind him for protection. "I will try and sniper them from the kitchen door* friend Tillak," indicating his wand. "You keep them from getting in at me. I feel rather inapt in physical combat!" He part grimaced, part smiled an evil grin...
[OOC: *That is door from kitchen, into the chapel, if he can...]

Tillak is forced to half climb over the dead beastmen, in doing so he notices one of the corpses clad in banded armour and still strapped to a small shield. Another has dropped a long sword.
A new barrage of rocks comes hurling from the chapel into the kitchen while the warlock's defenses are compromised!
9,3,2, 1 all missing their mark! As Tillak stumbles into the room.
