"Your nomad family went out hunting/gathering 12 years ago and never returned.
The elders left in charge died soon after.
Your sisters were recently taken by talking beastmen in the night.
You have tracked them for 6 months.
The path has led to this ridge.
You hear sounds of skirmish over the crest."

Votin advises the two to shield the fire while he takes a look past the double doors at the raised dais...concerned about the enemies the firelight may attract.
He looks cautiously out the doors and if no danger is sensed , will make his way to the dais.

Votin moves away from the dais at the front east of the room and heads through the pews toward the broken double doors at the west end of the 40 x 40 ft space. Looking out into the thickening flurries of sleet and snow, Helios has sunk deep below the treeline of the wood 200 yards out. The chill is bitter and he cannot wrap his mind around how it could be this cold, and what was that the newcomer said of Nightfall? Which seems years away...
A sudden howl in the far distance breaks his wandering worries.

This place is in bad shape! At least I find comfort in this dried meat.
The meat staves off madness to be sure, but these men without winter furs strike chords of lunacy.

Votin cautiously backtracks into the larger room,
"Perhaps we should go back into the stairwell...at least it will be warmer and more defensible...and look for some sturdier materiel for clothes."

"Yes, let's do that."

If Votin and crew have enough time to retreat back to the stairs, Votin drags anything possible to block the door once they are in and asks another of the party to bring some charcoal or burning embers from the fire inside as well.

Tillak follows Votin back through the burnt out doorway next to the dais and through the small wooden door in the corner.
[Did Tillak bring the embers as requested, and if so, how did he transport them ?]

Is there a receptacle of any kind near by?

Assuming Tillak remains fireside with Malak -- not that he sees, though he cannot see atop the dais from his squat. He does recall the cast iron pot hanging the fireplace in the other room where Votin has gone...
Meanwhile Helios has set. It is officially dark. And the snows thicken falling steadier through the broken out roof in this space.

Votin shivers in the dark frosty air,
"Those old time stories by the campfires....about things that lurk in the dark....didn't really scare me as a child....it's the possibility of the things that are actually out there cause me to give pause.
Malak, come and let us get some place warmer."

Malak knows the howls to be the same as the ones tracking him for last 3 days.
