Werestoat

I'm I the only one that thinks this would be cool?

The very first time I played AD&D I almost got killed by a dire weasel-- knowing very little about what sort of monsters  exist in the dungeons and dragons milieu, I had assumed we were just attacked by a bizarre lycanthrope. I was later more than a little disappointed to learn that I would not in fact be transforming into a were weasel by the light of the full moon.

I still recall that as a missed opportunity-- but I'm fairly certain I'm well in the minority.

what do you think? If you were to encounter a werestoat would that set off your cringe detector?

"We alone of all mankind, who are sorcerers of high attainment and mastery, may endure the lethal ice-change and become breathers of the airless void, and thus, in the end, be made suitable for the provender of such as Rlim Shaikorth." sounds great unless you know what Provender means.

Only when it was climbing up my trouser leg!

Re: Werestoat

Dragon #40 has stats for a wereweasel, along with some other interesting lycanthropes such as the pleasantly benign weresloth.
