Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The 3 stones are missing , only 3 small ,dark, hollow, cavities remain.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Anything in there? Kondor will use a lit page as a light to peer inside.  If it's sandy, maybe he can see hand marks of someone taking something out?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The flickering hymnal papers do little to fully illuminate the dark recesses. Judging from the size of the stones next to the holes, the depth could be to the elbow...

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Kondor reaches in to each of them, left to right, if he can't see directly. He's got super barbarian reflexes, so likely the best candidate for the job...?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Unrested and unhealed Kondor crouches on the cold, stone floor and slowly puts his ungloved hand into the first/left/south crevice...

Roll d12, then d20 Kondor...

After healing and resting only!  He’s eaten rations, started the fire, has his blanket and such on to warm up. The whole deal.

Only then did he get the page and look down the hole.

Also: if it’s rolled up paper, then the end is lit, he can stick it fairly close to the opening. If his arm can fit, he should be able to look fairly well down the hole, and if it’s not obviously going to catch fire, even stick the burning roll further down the holes.
Does that work?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Ah. So full eight hours before exploring the holes under the mattress? Ok then, let's check in with Sol to see if he's tired enough for a full stop too.

Any watches, or both fast asleep?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

As a kimmerian barbarian I believe his instincts asleep are keener than a civilized man awake, if Robert E Howard is a good source on the subject. Lol. So both?

Otherwise Kondor will take the first watch, and spend time mourning Emral in silence while Sol gets rest, as spell casters are known to need it.

Add 10 XP Kondor.

Despite the dangers he's seen with his own eyes,  Sol is convinced by Kondor that all is well and that they both can get some well deserved rest after their long journey to discover the whereabouts of that conniving cheat - Malak.

They load the fire with extra pages from the hymnals and vow to awaken at intervals to replenish the flame. Warmth slowly fills the room, and the black smoke wafts past the hanging dead explorers through their hole in the roof.

Sleep is deep and both slumbering men do not hear the howling of distant wolves after the first few hours, nor do they witness a second crimson illumination of the courtyard several hours past that. In fact they sleep so deeply and snuggly under their blankets, neither wakes up to feed the blaze and when Kondor stirs, he finds it out , the crisp frozen air once again breaking like ice in the room.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

ooc: drat.

"Must have taken more out of us than I'd thought. Light this again..."  Kondor sets about lighting the fire again, using his keen instincts, honed as they are from years in the arctic wild.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Kondor lights the fire, his woodsmanship so practiced Sol sleeps through the noise.

The flame dances off the walls, illuminating the room and the frozen faces of the hanging men overhead.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

"ugh. I'm going to need to cut those guys down before I leave. If they can wait until I've rested, of course."

ooc: how long until we're rested?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

It's hard to know how much time has gone by as the darkness of Nightfall still looms....
But Kondor feels fully rested and Sol is still asleep!

Kondor adds the leveling up HP roll of 10 to his max total - Now 23.
Roll a rest recovery HD + CON bonus and add to current 17.
