Emral gets a good hold on the alpha's collar and yanks, but it stays put, as does the alpha's LOCKJAW!
Three more wolves join the fray, each jockeying for an attack position - but only one manages a nip at Malak:
17! Thankfully it's only a graze for 1 hp of damage!
End of round 3.
intentions/int for round 4....
D6: 1!!!
Emral is going to pick up the alpha locked onto his arm and run to the far door.

Specifically by the collar. Because it’s dog shaped, emral has Armour, and it’s going up against an athlete and super genius.

Attack the alpha with my magic dagger
Init: 2
Attack: 9 (plus bonuses from magic/strength)
Damage 3

Wolves take the initiative with 3!
2 more wolves enter the room.
5 of the remaining wolves gather around the alpha which is clamped onto Emral's arm. The alpha gets its legs wedged against the warlock and yanks its head side to side, tearing the flesh from the bone.
Emral takes 4 more points of damage!
The other remaining wolf attacks Malak, but the thief successfully kicks it away!

Malak kicks the new wolf away and plunges the magic dagger again into the mange slick hide of the alpha!

Emral strains to lift the alpha by the collar and flees with it toward the door on the east wall, the tactic confusing all the other wolves.
End of round 4.
you know the drill.

Emral knows that letting go to try the door is as good as giving his arm up for lost, so he recalls how he saw a barbarian train wild dogs.
“The Viking word for wolf is Var, the word for fire is Loge, so do you know the real meaning of Varlockr? I am the wolf of fire!”
Emral bites the alpha as hard as he can on the nose, a cluster of nerves for beasts with scent tracking.
If it’s dazed by pain he can tear open the door and bolt through, hopefully followed by Malak.
Ooc: if not you could climb the rope!

D20 to bite: 6 (sonovab...!!!!)

I will have to continue to attack the Alpha while defending myself:
Init 4
Attack 12 (not sure what the bonuses are)
Damage 3 (not sure what the bonues are to that either)
Next round I may have to pull out my secret weapon!!!!

Emral gets the apprehend on initiative, but his bite misses by a mile.

Malak continues to stab the alpha, but the stubborn s.o.b. will not release!

2 more wolves squeeze in to get a taste of man flesh.
The room now crawling with the feral beasts, none affected by the one dead brother on the cold floor.
With most of the wolves watching and waiting on the alpha - it is only the two newcomers that attack Malak!
6! The first gets batted away by the thief.
2! The second can't land a bite either.
End of round 4.

Emral tries to bite again, sensing that he'd better smack this alpha around and *become* the pack's alpha, or he's going to be torn to shreds by the rest of the pack.
Initiative: d6: 6
Attack: d20: 7
Emral - sensing that biting might not be the path to victory, plans to just swing the alpha around for a slam against the ground, when he gets a chance.

I’m on the edge of my seat here folks. I really hope we make it out of this, but I refuse to fudge the dice!

No fudging in Hyperborea!
Malak's injuries are mere scratches,
but Emral feels faint!
Round 5 could be the turning point....

Emral is desperate but refuses to accept death. He twists the collar with his off hand to strangle the wolf, and turns to pin it against the wall with his body, pressing hard to hopefully crush ribs, or at least keep it off the ground so it cannot chomp down again.
Initiative: 1!
Attack d20: 17! Plus modifiers (+2?)
Second d20 in case we need it: 2? Maybe that’s a strength check roll under?

Yeah I’m starting to regret that 14 being in Charisma and not Constitution...
What are we waiting for now?
And is this you giving us one last glimpse of the characters before the end?
