Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Emral nods, and follows Malak while the rogue removes the stone and they can move through the area.

Off-topic OOC:  Here's a link to the game I'm working on. I've been polishing it since I mentioned it, and I think it's good for a human being to read it.  I've been playtesting with my group, as of October, and it's been going fairly well; but while it worked exactly like I expected, the group isn't able to meet often.  If you are up for giving it a read-through, that would be huge.  I'm looking for a game-educated person(s) to check this out so I can get it ready to publish it via my publishing company Fireinthedust Productions (adventures available now on Drivethrurpg.com!).  I've done DCCrpg work and a Pathfinder module, but I wanted to get my own ideas out there rather than mechanics that don't work for me; plus no one is hiring me to map/illustrate their books, so this is my chance to Frazetta my way into rpg history!

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The stone is 2x2, quite wobbly in its space.
You think it's clean

I had a chance to skim through it briefly. Looks good.
What are you calling this game? Knights and Knaves? Look into that because there is a group out there that uses that phrase. I'm unaware of any game but I am aware of the group.

I try to move it and peer into the area.

The stone pushes in, far more easily than it should.

What do I see?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The stone pushing in, it seems to be rolling on some type of gliding mechanism you cannot see, 3 ft so far.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Watching this, Emral comments  "It's a secret passage? Or some kind of... trap? Why build something like that here, in a peasant village in the middle of nowhere? And it must be from when the area was constructed, as the priestess and the plague aren't part of the construction - obviously - nor the people who've been melting down the treasure into those plates. Not if the dust on these bottles is any indication, that there hasn't been activity down here. I mean, even stonework construction would need more space than this nook. So... was there some purpose to this temple beyond the essential village gathering?  Or is this going to lead us to the sewer pipes where the water from the pool drained?"

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Map:  Does the graveyard fence align with the wall that goes up to c6, across the courtyard? Like, the cemetery boundary is all the way to C, or to D like I did it?
Is there an eastern wall on the cemetery, or is it the courtyard?  And where is the gate, if he saw one?
I'm going to have to figure out how to do wood for the walls. Maybe wiggly lines rather than stone hatching...

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

After another foot, the stone pops out into a small hollow space
In Emral's flickering lamplight dancing around your bulky shadow, you can just make out a dark shape against the wall within.

D like you did it is closer to the intent.
It didn't seem like there was a wall through the tall grasses when you saw it yesterday, or was that 2 days ago. These endless nights are a blur.
Neither of you were willing to pass through the gate at G.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Describe dark shape and how far am I in?
I yell to Emril to get ahold of my feet if I need to be dragged out.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

You are still inside the 2ft x 2ft x5 ft long tunnel. Your arms are sticking out into darkness, your feet are still tinkling the glass in the cellar.
It's too dark to see inside that space without Emral's lantern.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

I crawl back out and get the lantern for better viewing satisfaction.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

You push the lantern ahead of you as you slither back up the small tunnel.
Its light allows you to see inside the circular space carved from stone around 8ft diameter, 4ft high.

There is a decomposed body leaned up against the far wall. The skin of its ghastly face hardened by time into a leathery sack sunken against the bony frame beneath. Its clothing - a simple worn frock.

"Emril, do you want to check this out?"

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Emral pokes his head into the hole.  "See if he's animated. Wait, skip that, just stab the brain. Then let's check for belongings.  Maybe it's one of the old acolytes, or maybe it's a treasure-hunter who hid here to get away from the skeleton children. If that's the case, he would have starved to death here... Then the skeletons went into torpor after they stopped sensing his life force?"
