If Emral is out of the pool and the skeleton is in the pool. I would not jump in to attack. I would step back and draw my bow, release an arrow if he is charging us.

ok, so for phase 1, Malak sheaths the dagger, pulls the bow and an arrow and nocks it, and works to find aim at the charging skeleton.

1,2,3 charges Emral. 4,5,6 charges Malak.
5!
The skeleton jumps out of the pool and charge attacks Malak as he loads the arrow.
15! The rusty dagger tears through the leather. Blood flows! 4 points of damage!
End of Round 1, phase 1.  You have initiative for  phase2, sword is in hand, and arrow is nocked.

Emral cleaves the skeleton with his sword, bringing the blade down at its frame with a heavy "chock!" that could have cut through a log - if he hit the soggy mess of bones and flesh.
attack: 15+2: 17
Damage: 4+2: 6!

The skeleton splinters, bone fragments scatter across the whole of the pulpit, its rusty dagger clanging to the floor and the blade snapping in two.

Do we investigate the pool more. Or, what's next?

“I need rest, and warmth by the fire. We can explore once my clothes dry.”
Emral goes to the fire, strips down and wrapes himself in the wolf skin he had washed off, and sets up his gear to dry.

I bind my wounds and join him by the fire

The warmth and crackle of fire is smoothing. Far off a lone wolf's lament breaks the silence, its woe stabs your hearts. Your wounds eventually stop leaking and your thoughts begin to settle on your rations...

Emral helps malak bind his wounds, and shares his rations.
“Once we finish downstairs we might be able to leave and get to the village. Some food for the trip back, then maybe we can drink melted snow?”

Ooc: and I’m going to have to count xp. If we are up a level before we go down stairs, that’s a big help. Not sure if it’s a dungeon where we’re supposed to have cleared the level and go up a level before going to the next level (to get a spell level?), but it’s the only clear path to whatever is going on here. Hopefully we’re not heading down when we should have done the cemetery or the bell tower?

Current diagnostics:
Emral has 4321 XP. 5 HP. Fresh wounds(bound). No disease. 4 rations.
Malak has 2226 XP. 5 HP. Fresh wounds(bound). No disease. 4 rations.

Sweet!  Okay, my rough estimate is approximately 1679xp before I get more spells and hit points. (no calculator, just eyeballing it sans coffee).
How long until we heal wounds naturally?  Or is the current environment not going to help that?  If not, we might as well go as soon as Emral's clothing and gear dries/warms.

We’re resting for 8 hours then. Need to survive this adventure!

Emral settles in by the pile of pew wood, takes turns whittling and re-reading spell.
What does Malak do for next 8 hours?
