Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Time passes.
The cloud cover darkens and the rain remains steady.

"Olo! Stop messing around!!"

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Your muscles tremble and the limbs of your bow creak under your continued draw.

The steady rain becomes sleet. The dim light wanes, as does your confidence in Olo's continuation.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

I poke my head inside to get a better look.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The freezing sleet collects on the tops of the pews and the pulpit beyond.

Olo fell behind the first pew.

Up there on the right about 20 feet...

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

And, he is not moving?

I look left and right without going inside.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

To repeat: You cannot see Olo. He fell behind the 1st pew which is 20ft. away on your right. He may be moving. You cannot see. He is not responding to your calls.

Nothing other than the scattered, torn books and papers lie to the left or right of you.

"Get up Olo!!!!"

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Olo's voice - if there even is one - could never be heard over the steady chunking din of the heavy sleet against the rotted floor...

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Are some of the timbers dry of the church?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

It's been raining for a week.
Not in this room.
Remember the ceiling has collapsed here.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

I pull out my tinderbox and torch! Light the chapel on fire...

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

After several attempts you manage to get your torch lit. But the charcoal timbers just will not catch in this terrible sleeting.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

I dose the inside and walls (without going in) with oil. Then light it

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

It was inside Olo's pack which he left on the ground next to me.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

You look around in vain. You have misremembered. It was you who put down your bow to help him push against the door. His pack must still be on his back, up there inside the church 20 ft ahead on the right, out of your sightline..,..
