Head Lopper

I just read Head Lopper Volume 1: The Island or a Plague of Beasts this weekend.  It is the story of a barbarian warrior who arrives on an island that has an infestation of monsters, or plague of beasts, which is blamed on the Sorcerer of the Black Bog.  After proving himself in battle against a giant sea creature, Head Lopper is hired by the Queen to go and kill the Sorcerer and put an end to this curse.  Good times ensue as he traverses the island, lopping off heads along the way.
The comic is fairly light on story and high on action and humor, but it also has very efficient world building.  The island has a mythic Britannia feel to it, with jagged highlands, dark swamps, and ancient religions.  There's plenty to mine for AS&SH inspiration.  There's a side character that outfitted in something like Greek hoplite armor, fighting with spear and shield.  There's a weird monster that crawls out of the abyss to feed that is too awesome in power to be described, so they only call it the Unnamed.  And there are heads being lopped off on a pretty regular basis.
It's a lot of fun.
