Ghul - it's uncanny that you posted the LUCIFER'S HAMMER video this morning. I literally tripped over them last night while painting minis and YouTubing through some various metal channels. I was certainly intrigued. They kept my attention for quite a while. Great sounding 'old school' metal from a relatively new band - and from Chile to boot. \m/

I dig it. They sound good. I'm loving the Latin metal these days. There's been a pretty big resurgence. Jose Mangin from Sirius Satellite Radio has been pushing it quite a bit.

and it was my favorite album as soon as it hit the local rock station here in Atlanta. Still a favorite band to this day. Their revival was amazing with Mark on vocals! I was fortunate enough to see them for the first time since the METAL HEART tour for that revival when they headlined one night of a local metal fest that I work. It goes without saying then that I was able to meet a guitar hero at long last! Yeah, that's me below grinning like a jackass eatin' briars with Wolf Hoffman. :D

I've been meaning to make my way back in here for some time now to turn you New Wave of Traditional Metal supporters onto a band I've discovered in recent weeks: Children of the Reptile from Wilmington, NC.

GATEKEEPER - a Canadian band I literally tripped over this morning is another throw-back to early 80's studded leather, bullet-belt speed/heavy metal, spouting lyrics inspired by cosmic/fantasy authors we know and love. Like others have noted, there's so much fantastic metal out there that goes with this game, it's hard to go wrong. But I don't think I've seen anyone post Japanese girl metal yet. So I give you this:

wow. Looks like it was pretty quiet in here for 2-3 months until Spider of Leng showed up. ;) Nice posts there, btw. A little background on Seven Kingdoms: they call me Papa Hoyt because I've hosted them here in Atlanta several times over the past 7-8 years. I was the first music promoter to invite them to step out of Florida. And now they're touring the world. \m/ *sniffle* Makes a Papa proud. :D

But yeah, I'm a bit behind in posting new inspiring music for you to check out. Here's just a couple of them I've found in recent weeks. These both hearken back to the very early seventies in the style of fuzzy guitars and Hammond organ; Black Sabbath meets Uriah Heep meets Hawkwind. Check them out and let me know your thoughts...

Great stuff! I just bought both these CDs off Amazon. I'm a music grognard too; I still buy physical CDs. In fact I have so much music that my I-pod classic maxed out at 160 GB and I just bought a new I-phone for the expressed purpose of being able to put my whole music library on it.

Speaking of Hawkwind, I had heard of them but never really listened to them much until earlier this year. As a result, the huntsman PC in our character party is named Hawkwind.
