    He moves back to the location he had crouched before, and casts detect magic on the pin, the ring, then he tries again to direct the searching magic at the portal. Perhaps the magic of the pin and the portal were similar?

    The incantation leaves his lips and Narrhil's wand shimmerlights.
    Narrhil's ring shimmerlights.
    Shimmerlight seeps from Narrhil's pack.
    The worm shimmerlights.
    And the withered corpse shimmerlights.
