OK, it should be all set now. I also added the "delete post" option.

It will be fixed soon. I see they sent me an email answering my question on how to deal with it. Bear with me, and thanks for the alert!

Greetings! Dave Prata here, for those who don't already know me. I played my first one-on-one game of Holmes Basic c. 1982—I believe I fell in a pit and died—and I've been hooked on gaming ever since. I moved on to Moldvay/Cook B/X, then Mentzer's Companion set, before graduating to AD&D c. 1984. Like many, I was away from the game for most of my 20s (the 1990s), but I've been running a semi-regular Greyhawk campaign since 2002. Along the way I've also run/played Call of Cthulhu, Star Frontiers, Marvel Super Heroes, Champions, Rifts, and probably a few other games I'm missing.
Before Jeff and I ever met, our orbits crossed briefly in 2005–06 on Gary's Yggsburgh project. (I regrettably had to bow out of that at the time.) I also had the privilege of contributing to Len Lakofka's L4 Devilspawn. Later I was one of the early developers of Matt Finch and Stuart Marshall's OSRIC, which led to Jeff contacting me in 2010 about editing AS&SH™.
My son was born in 1997. Next to that, my work on this game is probably my proudest achievement. Thanks, Jeff. It's been an honour. Now let's start churning out some adventures!
Fantastic, Dave. The honour has been all mine! Your . . . ahem . . . You're the finest editor I've ever worked with. Yes, time to get back to work!
Announcements » North Wind Adventures Five Year Anniversary Sale! » 3/03/2014 5:07 pm |
This month marks five years from when North Wind Adventures, still early in the development of the AS&SH game, released Charnel Crypt of the Sightless Serpent at Gary Con I (March, 2009). It wasn't my first time to Lake Geneva, WI, but it was the most bittersweet; I was excited about launching my small press company, but sad, too, because it was my first trip to snowy Wisconsin since my friend and mentor Gary Gygax had passed away a year earlier.
Here (below) you can see Ian Baggley (right) and me, Jeff T. (left), sitting at our booth:
To celebrate North Wind's five year anniversary, all print products will be on sale at 20% off for one week, from March 4 to March 10, 2014.
The following sale prices will be in effect:
Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea = $40.00 (normally $50.00)
AS&SH Players' Manual = $16.00 (normally $20.00)
Charnel Crypt of the Sightless Serpent = $4.00 (normally $5.00)
Taken from Dunwich = $6.00 (normally $7.50)
Meantime, RPGNow / DrivethruRPG will be having their annual GM's Day Sale. This means all North Wind Adventures PDFs will be 30% off their normal prices:

As a kid in teh 1970's , the local theater used to have free saturday morning shows. They's play Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts...all those old cool movies. I miss those days.
Indeed. So much better than the CGI of today.

I just rewatched the Golden Voyage with Phillipe Law and Tom Baker. At first I was thinking that it was a bit cheesy, but the more I watched the more I enjoyed the movie. It is full of greay ideas for a Hyperborea campaign. I believe the others are too but I haven't watched them in awhile.
Harryhausen is of course one of the main reasons that this is such a fun picture, but I liked both Tom Baker and Phillipe Law's performances.
Yeah, I love it, too, but my personal favorite has always been Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger:

Brilliant! Like Jason, I read one sentence from CAS, like the one in your quote, Lord Kjeran, and I want to grab a pencil, lined paper, some graph paper, and start making stuff up for a game. So very inspiring.

I used to play a Dune PC game back in the early Nineties, but I don't remember the music...
Basically, you picked a House, and you tried to take control of the spice and the planet.
