Yeah, you're right. Maybe I should have said is that an interesting direction. And if there are other ideas I could use.

Thanks!
I have another question. My players didn't kill the Hyperborean king in the Desert Dunes adventure. Since awakening, he has rebuilt his old tower in the destroyed coastal city. Planning on rebuilding the rest of his kingdom. Possibly using the green diamond mines as a source of income. He's partial to the PCs cause they freed him and might need them to transport those diamonds for sale in Khromarium. But there's already some contention because he's pro-slavery. Seeing as he's old school Hyperborean who still sees the races of man as inferior. Am I correct in using that interpretation?
Hyperborea » "Sexually incompatible"? » 11/10/2024 5:01 pm |
I'm wondering what the fruit of fertility in Hungarian D20's adventure "The Lost Valley Of Kishar" would do. Since it's supposed to boost fertility. Originally I was going to have a bidding war start between Atlantean and Hyperborean factions to get most of the potions. Since they're worried about being a dying race. Throwing in for fun, the probability of twins and triplets for every pregnancy increases dramatically.
But now this has me thinking about if it could effect pairing between humans and Atlanteans and Hyperboreans.
Magic, the great disruptor

During their Desert Dunes adventure. My players picked up some ancient coins in Cape Valencia.
From the shrine of Apollo. Now one of my players is a Paladin of Apollo. Upon returning to Khromarium he tithed them to the temple. But kept some. One idea my players came up with was to use the coins especially when they do good deeds like giving alms to the poor. His NPC girlfriend, the Paladin of Artemis (Andromeda from the pre-generated PCs supplement) said she was jealous that she didn't have silver coins of Artemis to do that as well. To which the players were like,: "Then why don't you just start making them? In fact, why don't we start making more modern coins of Apollo?"
So my question is, have I started some sort of religious hullabaloo?
Are there clerics of Xathoqqua that will get irate at this? Do they control the minting of coins exclusively? Is their religion as lazy as their god? Will they let it slide? Or will brawls and clashes start occurring? If they play the Thousand Eyes of Thaumagorga and recover even more coins, the statue, and especially the Sacred Flame. What could happen if they move that to Khromarium? To the Temple. Or was there some lighthouse in the bay? Or if they go crazy and build the tallest tower in town? What do you all think?

Ooh yeah that sounds awesome. A black disruption crystal. What other powers could it have? Localized anti-magic field? Though I think I'll nerf it a bit by having the crystal crack when you remove it from the other crystals it's disrupting. Oh wait, maybe I'll have it become a radiation grenade. Hmmm, how long should the shutdown last? 3 days? A week?

One of my players really wants to find a way to fly the Amazon Skyship to the Floating Island. Or at least adventure there. I see in the Oblation Slab that there is a way to get there.
As for adventures while there, the 2nd edition adventure "The look of Love" from the Hero's Tale anthology set sems good. Dealing with a medusa.
Are there any other adventures dealing with Amazons? Or just good greek themed ones?
Adventures » Converting OSE Adventure "Scourge of the Northland" » 9/08/2024 12:19 am |
Yup. I was thinking a fist size one would do that. Some might be basketball sized. I'd say those are good for 50 miles.
Was also thinking of what could disrupt the crystals power. Like a sabotage device villians could use to incapaciate the skyship for a while.

If the gem kills Ronan, and the doom comes to the keep. can placing the sacred flame in the keep, or the mine itself counteract the corruption that will destroy it?

Sounds a lot like the Kryptonite conundrum. Needing to think up a new color for the next issue, and whatever wacky hijinks you want it to cause.
For the orange crystals, I was thinking that a head-sized chunk could power the Amazon Skyship for a week. But it would fly at half speed, and not be able to power the laser crossbow at all. Being too high energy. Orange crystal being more intended for powering machinery.

Journey to Obanhold
Adventures » Converting OSE Adventure "Scourge of the Northland" » 8/22/2024 8:44 pm |
Ha! Good point. Will have to think up shenanigans to pull like that.
Also, is the population too high? Khromarium is the only city so far with 30K+ people.
So should I bring it down to about 20K-18K? Explain that it's an up-and-coming settlement that people are migrating to. Because it's a defensible location, with resources that settlers and sponsors from Khromarium, the Vikings, and Kelts want. That and Khromarium wants to unload some of its poor and homeless population to.

Yes, the Ghost Ship adventure doesn't make it clear if the green diamond mine is played out. So If I decide it's viable, how many diamonds could they mine per month? 200-300?
And if I use Scourge, do I keep the original orange crystals, or convert them to green diamonds? Green diamonds would be easier. With the orange crystals, I would have to work out how much energy they put out.

Hello, my players have just finished the Ghost Ship of the Desert Dunes adventure. Charnel Crypt of the Sightless Serpent might be next, upon returning to Khromarium. But after that, I was thinking of using Scourge of the Northland.
Since it shares many thematic elements. Mostly the use of magic orange crystals to power their magic devices. Similar to the green diamonds that power the Amazon Skyship they found in the Desert Dunes adventure.
I was hoping for advice and suggestions on where to place it. The city of Obanhold is a land locked high-walled enclave in the middle of the prairie.
"Far north of the nearest major settlement, the walled
“city” of Obanhold stands in stark contrast amid gentle
rolling prairie. Named lovingly “the Windrose of the
Plains”, Obanhold promises to be a future prominent economic
epicenter of the industrious human world. Though there is no major
body of water on the surface, which would typically be required
to support a growing population of this degree, there is a massive
aquifer that feeds the city. Engineers and wizards
created a sophisticated aqueduct: an underground
network that has made Obanhold a veritable oasis
compared to the surrounding landscape.
Obanhold has a population of about 34,000
people with the majority workers, farmers,
and the poor. The demographic breakdown
of its people is 92% human, 6%
dwarf, and 2% other. The standing
army consists of 500 fighting-men &
women, 250 of which are foot archers
and the rest are knights and men-atarms.
In times of war, levies can be
conscripted into service, gaining"
Would the Gall Hills be a good spot? Near the Xin plateau.

2nd encounter was more exciting I think. I had the PCs explore the dungeon under the Fane. And run into a Winter Wolf guarding the young girl prisoner in the prison. I modified it by having other survivors from the shipwreck in there with her. But they were all turned by the werewolf. So they could try and get a surprise attack on the players if they "freed" them. The Winter Wolf could have wiped out their hired merc spearmen, but instead of holding off past their spear range, I had him charge in to breathe as much frost breath as possible. They managed to block him off long enough to dispatch him.

I'm thinking of tying it to the amphora. Using the radiation energy from it to accelerate the transformation. As for control, I'll just let them be rampaging monsters.
Adventures » Werewolf variant in Desert Dunes Adventure » 1/10/2024 10:05 pm |
But you know what? Screw it, I'm filling the dungeon with more werewolves.
The module did say the main werewolf kidnapped a bunch of people from a shipwreck right?
Adventures » Werewolf variant in Desert Dunes Adventure » 1/07/2024 4:28 pm |
Yeah, I was all set for an epic fight. And my cleric cast command "sleep" on him. I didn't allow a coup the grace. But it helped them win the fight more easily.
As the spell is worded. Any Int below 13 automatically loses the saving throw.
I did manage to infect the werewolf's brother. Who got bit while trying to force belladonna into him to cure him. They grappled him too and fed him belladonna as well. The brother survived.

I think I'll keep the bite to transfer the curse. For dramatic purposes
