I enjoy the format of the smaller booklets. The map is nice quality too. Overall very impressed. Before retiring for the evening I immersed myself in the gazetteer. Running an adventure in Hyperborea is on the agenda, stylistically it reminds me of reading through the Greyhawk box set.

You might find BA23's excellent map helpful when reading the Gazetteer. I did! Printed a small copy sized for the book, then taped it to the inside of the back page.

I'm on a weekend-holiday currently, but when I get back home I'll bring up a digital map on the laptop or desktop and compare. I, like you, find it much easier to reference when there's something visual. Otherwise I'll unfold the map onto the floor while I read.
