Stumbled across this on BGG today. Never heard of it, but apparently is becoming quite popular. It looks mainly to have the name 'hyperborea' in common and not much else

Might be fun, I suppose, but that background story text really turns me off. Still, thanks for pointing it out.

From a quick look, it seems to be of the "German game" variety, though of Italian make. So probably if you like Settlers of Catan, you'd like it. I don't think I can ever play Settlers again. I'm a grown-ass man! Unless I'm lonely on Rannoch Moor, I just can't ask anyone else for a sheep and still respect myself.

Also: civilicubes!

It looks like Candyland with too many rules.
Oh wait, that's Talisman.

I post quite a bit at at Fortress Ameritrash. It is popular with some over there. It is a rather abstract euro school of design area conquest game but with some hero characters in it. Has little if anything to do with the Hyperborea we know. My guess is they liked the sound of the word and so put it on the board game. In other news the Conan game from a few years ago is getting a reprint and update http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/27848/age-conan-strategy-board-game

Also there is this slated for release next year; http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/160010/conan-hyborian-quests

It sounds like an awesome game; but I must admit, I appreciate European-type board games much more than American-type ones (no offence).
