Fire Trap via Messenger Bird

Long story short Vikings attacked the town the characters were in. As a distraction, a Druid character sent a Fire-trapped sealed scroll via the Messenger Bird spell to the tent of the (very old) Leader of the attack. The leader was hurt badly by the spell which allowed him to be later killed. I rather thought this was an inventive use of the spells.

Haha, definitely very creative!  That must have been one tiny scroll, though...

Did anyone bother to ask whether or not the bird lived???

No the poor bird was slain. Unfortunately.  The session was a lot of fun.

I love the creative, thoughtful use of spells...

Agreed! I always lean toward generous rulings when players try to be creative, so long as it doesn't feel like I'm setting a game-breaking/abusive precedent.

That's really all that matters!
