What ones do you own and/or have played? Anyone have Barbarians of Lemuria? Anyone actually played it? Anyone get in on any of the kickstarters for them?

I ran the Sabres & Witchery pbp game here awhile back. Was looking at getting Tombs & Terrors via lulu to read through.

I own and have played a few sessions of BoL: I liked it, but my group didn't really take to the "nebulous" task system, nor the "requires creativity" sorcery system (i.e., no list of spells, just make stuff up and GM adjudicates difficulty on the fly). It's similar to Traveller in that it uses a 2d6 roll high core resolution mechanic (so, easy to pick up), but doesn't break skills down into more than "careers": e.g., an "Assassin" doesn't have an enumerated list of skills, just guidelines for what they'd be good at (disguise, sneaking, poisions, etc.). In our sessions it appeared that the heroes were truly heroic from the beginning, so there was no slow power curve. Easy to port to other genres, too.

For me BoL is great for one shots.  Its one of my favorite systems.  One of the best parts of the system is the players describing how they lost their share of the treasure during the off time before the new adventure.

Argh. Had I known about the discount I would have gotten myself the Legends of Steel version of Barbarians of Lemuria. I own the new Mythic version of BoL and like it in general, but am struggling with the nebulous nature of the magic system (I'm an old timer and like lists of spells!) and the lizard heavy nature of the beastiary.

BTW, I really like Heroes and Other Worlds and highly recommend it. The author did a great job capturing the old feeling of The Fantasy Trip and it can easily be used in a S&S setting.
