Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Emral grunts.  "Like the other door. What is with this place and unbreakable doors?!"

he mutters and heads across the courtyard to the shovel, looking in the area around in case of attack as he goes; then looks around the shovel and area for any signs of why anyone would have left a shovel in a courtyard.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Moving closer, Emral spies a small rusted unsprung spring trap attached to a chain and in turn to a crude iron spike embedded into the stone wall.

The shovel leans against the wall near a small patch of recently turned earth.

Emral stands back while Malak works.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Emral comes to unset the trap, but the cold is clearly getting to him.

[Emral: roll an avoidance save.]

Correction:

Malak is very lucky and draws his hand back as the savage rusted teeth snap shut!

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Disarmed!
Can the door be opened now?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The small rusted spring trap you disarmed is on the other side of the courtyard next to the shovel.

[I think you missed a couple posts, do you wish to withdraw your action?]

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

“So was the shovel trapped? Who traps a shovel?!”

Emral looks at the walls around the courtyard for doors, and the ground for potential traps.

“Is it clear?”

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

I don't think either of you got it right:

From Emral's approach to the shovel from way back:

Moving closer, Emral spies a small rusted unsprung spring trap attached to a chain and in turn to a crude iron spike embedded into the stone wall.

The shovel leans against the wall near a small patch of recently turned earth.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Let me reset the scene because something has gone horribly wrong:

Emral went to shovel. Saw a spring trap on the ground attached to wall next to it.
Malak said he'd disarm it. Almost got his hand chomped off.

The shovel remains standing against the wall amongst the littered melted glass shards form the windows of the kitchen high overhead.
The spring trap now sprung remains attached to the chain and wall next to the small patch of recently turned earth.
The door across the courtyard remains closed.
The bell wastes away high in the belfry.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Looks like we're going to have to solve a puzzle to get through that door. Or, y'know, fry it, but I'd like to try being clever.

1)  Is there glass on top of the shovel or under it? This would tell us when the shovel was placed (before or after the fire)

2) Is the shovel long enough to ring the bell? Was there rope on the bell that could have

3)  Is there space below the bell tower?  Like under the steps to go up?  Emral searches the bell tower if we're unsure.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

1. The shovel is standing against the wall. None of the twisted melted glass rests on it.

2. Could be. The ropes had been burned away you recall.

3. Looking over there and remembering from your recent climb , the structure is wooden but sparse, there is space.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Emral looks under the stairs and investigates.  He will then climb up and see if the shovel will reach the bell and whether the shapes on the roof moved at all.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Emral holds the lantern out between the boards of the belfry.

There is a pile of leather laying still near the center of the structure.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

I understand now
Can we get into this tower

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Malak can probably squeeze inside there.
