Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Narrhil moves to the stairs carefully trying to listen for any noise... He gave the warlock a look of uncertainty and allowed him to go first, he felt vulnerable as usual; if he fell quickly, he would be no help to the Esquimaux.

[OOC: Was the sound anything like a door being tore apart?

Also, how bad is Tillak, would casting 'cold resistance,' on him help?]

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The sound could have been wood snapping for sure.Tillak shivers, his time in this dreadful cold finally taking a toll, he marvels how Narrhil's brow sweats in his winter furs.

[Cast Cold Resistance on Tillak...]

"Great Ashen Worn, grant your power unto me," he hisses as he casts the spell on the Esquimaux.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

A warmth floods over the Warlock and he steels himself to continue.

The two squeeze up the narrow passage within the wall, Tillak leading with his war pick. Narrhil close behind with the flickering torch.

At the top, the wooden door with the low gouges  is closed as they left it.

Narrhil ponders, "it might have been the front door that was destroyed!" He whispers to Tillak...

Indeed, Tillak recognizes that it was not Yth'aqua who warmed his bones...
The torch flickers against the closed door in front of the two hesitant adventurers at the top of the steps. And all has remained silent on the other side whilst they've stood there with their knockyknees.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

"The Wendigo maybe compelled to lose travellers, and misbegotten fools such as we, but I fear we will never know it has betrayed us until we go through this door and investigate. I just hope it not immune to cold," indicating his wand.

"let us go through and see, but if its is dangerous, do not step in front of me till I have attempted to freeze it bones!"

Narrhil whipsers a prayer to the Ashen Worm...

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Narrhil pushes the wooden door open, his wand positioned to strike. The torch in his other hand is useless as a bright purple light floods the room  from the 2 small broken out windows high on the opposite wall.

Considering retreating, Narrhil quickly tries to comprehend what the lights are...

[OOC: Can he make an IQ roll, not sure what die you require?]

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

OCC: Does Tillak have time to skin the wolf? Are we actively being pursued?

Narrhil is well aware of that anarchy and chaos consume the realm during Nightfall. Legends tell of black comets and dazzling meteors of colour blazing the dark Nightfall skies in rains of fire. Even otherworldly skyships have been foretold.
But from within these high stone walls Narrhil can deduce nothing of the purple light's origin.

[Tillak and Narrhil are going back up to the church, investigating the thunderous cracking sound occurring not 1 turn ago-- Mere moments after your companion Votin the barbarian vanished right before Narrhil's eyes.

Nothing is pursuing the pair, it is up to them what course to take.

The wolf carcass is on the floor of the cellar, behind you.]

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

As with many travellers, they told tales around the campfire of Hyperborea and Narrhil Morrtos was no exception, except there was no campfire.

“Nightfall, the thirteen year, the Year of the Bat; a time when dæmons set forth to wander the dark lands, when bears make their plans to hibernate and Ice Mummies ride the through night on ferocious steeds that breath fire, or so some say. It is a time when Wyverns take flight and hunt in the skies looking for the like of you and me to feast upon.” The sorcerer paused in his narration.

“It is said that dazzling meteor showers light the sky in a volley of fire and when these occur during Nightfall, anarchy and chaos is said to consume the realm. Indeed, legends spoke of a black comet that once burned across the sky during Nightfall, and wreaked havoc, aye for was it not on Nightfall that the savages swarmed Khromarium just before I was born!” Narrhil look vacant for a short while in shock apprehension, not wishing to think of such things. Then he continued.

“The temperature plummets during this time, the ice does thickens, and katabatic winds descend relentlessly from the glacier-gripped slopes of Mount Vhuurmithadon, just over a couple of hundred miles northward from where we sit at this present moment.” He said to Tillak, as if that would explain the purple light.

That is strange things happen, and best get use to it...

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Narrhil moves towards the kitchen door, he hold the torch forward to try and illuminate the area as much as possible (though I presume the purple light will help in the interior of the church?, i.e. hole in the roof) so not be taken by surprise. He wants to see if the barricade is still intact.
