Hp now up to 21.

Gundrabu stuffs the scroll into his furs and draws out his flail, ready for more tentacles.

Perfect!  There are only 2 tentacles left, both wrapped tightly around Kondor. He is passed out and turning blue from constriction.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Gundrabu steps forth and lays to with his flail.

Initiative. D6- 4!
Attack roll. D20- 10!
If hits, damage. D6- 6!

Gundrabu pounds the flail against one of the tentacles, but the effect is nil.

The tentacles squeeze with renewed force causing yet another -4HP to Kondor , -4 of 29!

End of round.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Perceiving that his repeated attacks may be too slow in rescuing the barbarian, and hoping that the strength of the Kraken’s might may have some influence on these tentacles, Gundrabu desists with his flail and instead raises his symbol denoting the coils of Khalk-xu.

“Disperse beneath the waves of your master!” Gundrabu cries.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The 2 tenacles give a final squeeze to the barbarian for last good measure, -4HP , -8 of 29 before disappearing into thin air.  Kondor drops the ground with an unconscious grunt, his helm dislodging and rolling swiftly toward the grate.
The blade barrier hums along , its blades whirring in wait.

Gundrabu +400 XP for defeating the tentacles.  +3000 XP for the demise of Tetranna.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Current xp = 15,672. So close! Another spell sure would be handy right now! 😀

Dropping his flail, and allowing his holy symbol to fall back into its place over his chest, Gundrabu rushes to Kondor’s aid. He digs out some spare bandages from a pack and binds any lacerations, sets any broken or misaligned bones.

Then, if all this occurs without incident, he fills the empty waterskin at the fount. Praying to the Kraken that this water contains a healing virtue, he dribbles it into Kondor’s mouth, simultaneously cursing Tetranna’s shade for damaging the cleric so much that he had to use the healing blessing from the scroll on himself.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Tetranna's black tentacles have done massive damage to the mighty warrior, but Gundrabu doesn't find any obvious broken bones. And without him regaining consciousness and relaying internal abnormalities, the cleric can only hope all will be well. His breathing comes strained and ragged but steady.

The waterskin is filled and dribbled but with no immediate effect. Unless Gundrabu has more options, only time may tell...

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

“It’s as I feared. Kraken, may no other foes assail me until Kondor awakens, unless you give me the strength to bear him out of this den alone.”

Gundrabu settles comfortably beside Kondor. He gathers around himself all their belongings. He particularly sets out, within easy reach, the remaining torches. He removes the helmet from Kondor’s head and sets it by his own knee, prepared with the Spoon of Neverending Gruel for if he gets hungry. Also, he recognizes that it is magical and may be of some use before Kondor awakens. Then, flail and crystal weapon both also within easy reach, Gundrabu takes one last look at Kondor before snuffing out the torchlight. He wants to conserve their light and hide their position from others.

Then he waits, meditating on the mysteries of the Cosmic Kraken.

Sadly the helm has now rolled clean out through the grate...but all else is as so....

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

But in the darkness...his eyes suddenly adjust.

Two doorways appear, very dim yellow light oozing through each's jam.
One is behind the Slab.
One is next to the Grate.

Gundrabu +500XP!

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

ooc: Does Gundrabu know about the jackalope's paw? I don't remember if Kondor told him, or used it on him. It's been a long year+ (and given it's 2020, and how much of the year we spent in a literal pit of poopoo, it's oddly fitting!) but I can't remember off the top of my head.

It's a great question. I'll do a search and see.
Hopefully Gundrabu will think of something in the meantime.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Doh! I totally meant to use that paw! Then I forgot about it.

I’m pretty sure that Gundrabu watched Kondor use it. Specifically, he saw Kondor try to revive Tetranna with it, at least.

Suddenly remembering, Gundrabu will relight a torch and search Kondor’s body for it.

Also, with 500 xp, I’ve probably leveled up. That would mean I’ve acquired another spell or two. Thanks, Ref!

Renewed fire flickers at the torch's end, rebathing the chamber and Gundrabu quickly finds the rabbit's claw and mimics Kondor's earlier motions, passing it over perceived wounds. Alas, Kondor does not wake.

HAHAHA! Good one....

I had my three-year-old roll my DCC d6's in my new lucky dice tray. Which, I might add, was doing a great job on Wednesday when my Warrior slew the fiend "Cinder-Claws" - and is the second Christmas special villain he's gotten the final hit upon, as in 2016 he killed off the Krampus. Both villains vanished due to plot and/or magical natures, but that's twice I've been involved in saving RPG Christmas.

Do we have a rule about rerolls? I'd play the character, I'm just worried about Gundrabu depending upon this (looks at stats) looks like a rogue?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

In the darkness lit only by the magic light within the fountain Gundrabu contemplated the Mysteries of the Cosmos, and the Devouring Kraken, dwelling within its center and stretching its clutching tendrils into every aspect of every plane of existence. His meditations put him in mind of Kondor’s lucky rabbit foot, but he also feels like he knows more blessings of power.

Having gone up a level, to level 5, Gundrabu chooses three new spells. He’s also able now to cast another Level 1 spell per day and a single level 3.

Does this mean that Gundrabu has another level 1 spell slot? Can he get another Cure Light Wounds to cast on Kondor?

Edit: New Spells
Level 1: Protection from Evil, Remove Fear
Level 3: Speak with Dead
