Kondor lies beside the crashed canoe, his chest heaving.

Kondor is ready to rest, but his concern that Tetranna may be some illusion - like whatever made the impression of voices in their minds earlier - keeps him from relaxing fully. He looks to see her as they get closer, hoping not to have to fight while so weakened.

Gundrabu coils up Kondor’s rope and replaces it in the barbarian’s pack. He gratefully recovers his flail.

Kondor looks up, but the proximity of the slab to the sheer face of the cave wall shields her and the mechanism she works from view.

The trusty flail seemingly remains in working order albeit caked with muck.
Its chain however is twisted up in the bent metal tube.

Kondor rights himself, to see whatever comes next, sword drawn but casually on his shoulder - he looks out at the room they are leaving, in case danger lurks in the shadows behind them.

In the light of the lantern, Gundrabu removes the bent tube from the coils of his flail. He hopes—and expects—that it is a waterproof scroll case. He attempts to open it.
After that, if he has time before the elevator reaches the top, he will take a quick inventory of the two packs, see if anything has been ruined by water.

Wiping away the caked muck, Gundrabu finds he holds a small brass bugle. Its bell has been flattened.

Oh, man! Gundrabu so wants to try a note on it.
Best to wait until he actually remembers to consecrate a sanctuary for his Word of Recall. Things have been crazy enough, of late, without learning what he can unwittingly summon.

"huh." Kondor shrugs.

There's a sudden jerk as the slab halts its rise!
The crashed canoe and the cleric's crampons slip off the edge and fall to the floor below!

Gundrabu sighs. “Well, I guess we have to go back down for them.”
Kidding! I’m kidding!
“Well, here we are.” Gundrabu puts the flail and horn in his belt, shoulders his wet pack, lifts Igrest’s again in his arms, and nods to the lantern rocking still by the force of the arrival. “If you will be our light bearer, Kondor.”
Gundrabu steps off the platform to the ledge.

The slab has stopped only halfway up the sheer wall.

... right into the stone cliff face.
“Kondor, it seems something has befallen your friend. Perhaps you should stealthfully ascend the chain, unless you want to risk attention crying out, supposing there is only difficulty with the crank.”

LOL!
There's no chain....
There is a 10" metal cylinder screw in the center of the slab, so like 5 feet from the wall.

"Good thinking, Gundrabu. Have that rope ready to throw to me so I can pull you up. Loop it if you wish, around your foot, then cling to the rope - if your arms are tired. Still, be ready - this may be dangerous."
Kondor takes a beat, has only his chain shirt, sword and other weapons on his belt, and decides to ascend the screw-piller-that-is-100%-NOT-a-chain-I-guess(?), hoping he can help Tetrana rather than find a monster's trick.
ooc: Man, we need a break. Should have waited in that other room, eh? Ah well. Progress!

Kondor's stomach rumbles louder than does Gundrabu's... both echoing in the eerie silence.

“Thanks for the reminder, stomach.”
As Kondor ascends the screw, Gundrabu pilfers through the packs to see if any of the rations survived the water. He keeps one eye on Kondor’s ascent, to be aware in the first moment Kondor encounters trouble.

Kondor pushes past the stomach grumbling - assuming it's some kind of disease from being immersed in beastman poop for... ever so long - and climbs the screw to reach Tetranna, or whatever has stopped her from moving them up!
