With Gundrabu's assistance, Kondor tilts the slab up another 10 degrees, but the slab hits hard resistance and moves no higher.

Gundrabu describes everything he encountered and wonders if Kondor has any ideas. “A sunken boat?”

There is a sudden and instant flash of light!
You see a metal column before you extending out of the sludge to the ceiling of the cave, which is about 40 ft high.
You are near the wall and the cave is circular.
And in that instant the blackness returns.
The slab begins to vibrate!
The filth begins to churn!
A throbbing hum invades your ears!

Gundrabu swims desperately for the cave wall, away from the submerged structure, which he believes is about to do something violent!

Gundrabu's backstrokes through the muck to the safety of the cave wall behind him. Frantically searching for a handhold to remain above the surface, he feels the wall vibrating as the submerged slab did!
Roll d6!

He finds a handhold and feels the rockwall vibrating with a repeating pulse pattern, long long long short short.

Kondor does likewise, grabbing onto the wall near him.
ooc: pre-emptive d6 if needed: 5?

Kondor grabs the wall behind as well, and now both adventurers cling to the throbbing rockface!

Gundrabu waits, with interest, to experience what happens.

As does Kondor.
Is there any light now?

No light after the flash.
The vibration continues.
No more horn blasts.
Some time passes in the dark.
Offline
After another wait, the vibration ceases.

"Gundrabu, let's try opening the lid again."
ooc: does Kondor know about the ropes? I want to suggest that we cut the ropes, which are holding down whatever we need to open, which the beast men likely sealed and then pooped on. However, I don't want to metagame with knowledge Kondor doesn't know.

“Let us cut these ropes and find out. If they keep the offal from draining, then at least we’ll have some room to breath. Take a dagger and let’s cut the ropes!”
Kondor should still have a dagger or something on his belt. He finds it and makes his way to a rope and attempts to cut through it.

ooc: Good enough!
When Kondor reaches the first rope that he comes across, he takes out his hand axe, close to its head, and slices and scrapes at the rope until it snaps. Holding the rope with one hand, the axe in the other, to keep it taut.
