Gundrabu calls for Kondor to come share his bit of floating sludge with him, if there is room for the two of them.

Kondor moves in the direction with him, refusing to die in a beast men latrine!  He stretches his arms out to spread his weight as if it was quicksand, and tries to get closer to Gundrabu.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Gundrabu sounds as if he might be in front of Kondor but how far he cannot discern. Kondor's wild "swimming" only seems to keep him more under the surface than above, his scale armor suddenly acting like a straight jacket!  Smartly regaining his wits, Kondor ceases lashing about and spreads his arms and legs out hoping for perch...slowly slowly he sinks, and as his face begins to ease under, he calmly leans his head back  to keep his nose exposed just as the tips of his boots find hard surface far below!

ooc:  Sweet! The one time I'm relieved at hitting rock bottom (ba-dum-tsh!)

Kondor calmly tiptoes across the muck, pushing with his toes like a raft-pilot pushing through a swamp with a pole.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Okay, now Gundrabu slips out of his pack, taking care to keep his crampons on hand, then goes swimming out in search of cavern walls.

He’ll try to position his pack on the floating sludge, hoping for later recovery. If it slips away into the muck, oh, well!

Which direction? It is completely dark. Gundrabu seems to be moving away forward and left.

With his pack bobbing atop the muck, crampons in hand Gundrabu swims out  to his ______? Kondor grunts from somewhere behind his right shoulder.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Forward, or at least towards the sound of Gundrabu.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

So, in my imagination, there really is no direction outside of the sound of Kondor. It’s completely dark, and he have no other bearings. Moreover, it may be (judging by, perhaps, some subtle clues in recent descriptions) that we are in a moving channel.

With no real guide, I’m judging that Gundrabu simply swims out, forward (away from Kondor), until he strikes a wall. I expect it’s very difficult to keep an entirely accurate and straight course in water and utter darkness, anyway.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

The esquimeaux pushes off forward and away from Kondor. Without the hindrance of either the new pack or his own pack, he glides through the stinking muck, although he does notice that his armor drags him under as soon as he pauses any propulsion.

Gundrabu, Roll d6.

Kondor hears the sudden rush and sucking vacuum of a large shape moving off and away in front of him.

Kondor continues to move forward, certain it could only be his companion.

Kondor senses a sudden easing of the thickness of the muck and he lurches forward - his extensive wilderness skills make him believe he is in the wake of a moving object before him.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Gundrabu hopes that he has struck land or rock underneath the sludge, that it proves to be an ascending, solid mass up which he can climb out of the sewage. And he tries to do so.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

When Gundrabu bumps it, it moves. It was floating/sludging about waist high.

Gundrabu expects it was the pack that he dropped out of his arms midfall. He tries to confirm this by grabbing it and checking for identifying pockets, etc., while continuing to swim forward.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Gundrabu grabs the object and with a quick feel knows it to be a backpack. However he finds it extremely different to both hold it and swim in this deep thick filth.

Make a feat of Str roll.
