Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Gundrabu tactfully shifts to around the barbarian’s bulk, seeking a safe opportunity to widen the distance between himself and the fell creature, in anticipation of getting away and heading back to the sanctuary.

5! Baby!

If he gets away, he calls back to Kondor, “Be sure to bring my crampon with you!”

Ok, but just to be clear, recall that the parasite has repositioned to be Between Gundrabu and Kondor. Just want to make sure you're seeing the scene...

Let's see what Kondor will be doing...

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Got it! I was hoping to tactfully move backwards, so that the spider was resultingly slightly closer to Kondor, and then move to edge behind Kondor, thereby lending Gundrabu even more protection.

Shouldn't be a problem, unless the beast rolls a 6...

Parasite arachnid rolled a 3!
Let's see what Kondor will do and rolls....nudge.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Initiative: rolled a 1
Attack: rolled a 12+3: 15!

Kondor draws his sword and hacks at the spider. (or if he is only able to draw, he does that)

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Round 2:

Gundrabu gets the jump on the parasite, and leaps behind Kondor as the thewy barbarian unsheathes his mighty bastard sword. As he yells for the fetching of his tool, and turns to bolt back to the path...two additional giant ticks fall from the trees overhead to block his retreat.

The first parasite leaps and bites at Kondor...13! crawling quickly over the swatting barbarian to insert its mouth hooks deeply into the sweet fresh flesh of his neck.

[Kondor -4HP and make death (poison) save at an additional +2 bonus.]

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

rolled a 13. +2 is 15, +2 vs poison for Con, and +2 for barbarian, so grand total of 19!

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

[I show CON 15 poison bonus at +1 - but 18 is still awesome!]

Round 2 ends with the Gundrabu glancing back and seeing fresh red blood course through the transparent sack on the parasitic arachnid's back while is sucks at Kondor's neck!

State intentions and roll int for round 3!

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

ooc: Did Kondor's attack roll hit with 15?

Kondor jams the tip of his sword into the tick on his neck, stabbing it off him so he can take on the other two.

attack roll 1: 6+3: 9
attack roll 2: 14+3: 17!
dmg: it's 1 handed so I rolled d8: 6+3: 9!

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Well, I probably can make this strike, thinks Gundrabu.

Seeking to aid his ally, Gundrabu ignores the giant ticks, for the nonce, to whip his flail into the large spider sack engorging on Kondor. He knows he might strike Kondor, but he expects the barbarian to forgive him.

D6- 6!

But...

Roll to hit- 2 -1 Strength = 1!

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

[Kondor was unable to strike at the creature as it scurried over him and attached to his neck in round 2]

Round 3:
Initiatives are Gundrabu 6, Creatures 5, Kondor no roll, assumed 1.

Gundrabu launches his whip across the short divide, but in his effort to miss the barbarian, strikes wildly off-aim.

Creature at Kondor's neck successfully sucks another 2 HP of blood from him. [Kondor -2HP.]
Creature 2 takes advantage of the distracted esquimeaux to lunge....and bite...17! [ Gundrabu -2HP and death(poison) save at + 2 bonus.]
Creature 3 takes advantage of the bitten esquimeaux to lunge...and bite..another 17! [Gundrabu -4HP and death(poison) save again at +2 bonus]

Kondor stabs wildly at his own neck, prying against the bloodlusty beast! He isn't able to release the embedded hooks at first strike, but his second punctures the thick translucent sac hide, sending a spraying geyser of fresh Barbarian blood fanning to the ground!

[end of round 3, state intentions and roll initiatives for round 4!]

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Save 1 5 +2= 7

Save 2 17 +2= 19

Gundrabu fights at Total Defense (if he isn’t dead yet!). And, if he is able, he tactically disengages in any nearest open directions.

D6- 6!

Sorry. In this game it’s Dodge (+2 to AC) combined with a Fighting Withdrawal (half Movement).

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Did Kondor kill the one on his neck? If so he will move to hack the third tick. If that goes well he will be able to carefully strike the one still on Gundrabu.

No, it's still sucking greedily. The second and third have burrowed into Gundrabu and he falls to the ground, his arms and legs stiffening!

Roll initiative and get Kondor out of this jam!

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Initiative d6: 6! plus whatever.
Attack roll: 20!
Damage: d8: 7+3: 10!
plus critical hit d6: 6!

Kondor stabs the tick on his neck with the cry "You test the resolve of a Kimmerian? Then you shall feel his blade! Yah!!!!"

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Round 4:

Kondor stabs viciously at the leaking bloodsucker and with expert precision, cleaves the beast's head from its dense exoskeleton at the jawline. The carcass falls to the ground, but the hooks remain lodged in Kondor's throat. [Kondor +107 XP]

The hooded lantern has fallen over and its beam lights up the overhead branches, bathing a dim glow over the scene...

Gundrabu stiffens more on the hard ground, his eyes growing wide in fright.

Creature 2 and 3 continue to feed on the Esquimeaux's warm red blood. [Gundrapu -4HP]

End of round 4.
