Man, Handy, you're cutting this one very fine and precise.
I only owned this module 3 days ago. :-)
I'll give rhialto another shot at it before I plumb other sources of canon for bits of trivia.

Yeah. I'm a chiseler.

Hmmm...I need to relinquish the floor then, as I'm days away from consulting my printed copy of the adventure...

rhialto, I think Handy is cutting things to fine because the text reads:
These pyramidal (or “brilliant cut”) gems are small but precious...
But it's his question and his ruling. :-)

I was looking for "brilliant"--hey, Jeff stresses it repeatedly, so I figured there was a curse or something associated with it--a spirit that forever lurks inside the mind of the bearer, groaning sepulchrally, "Goooo toooo JAAAAARREDDDD!"
That said, a cut is different from a shape. These gems aren't going to shape themselves! Wait a minute--these gems might.
gizmomathboy, your call. Pose a question or yield to rhialto as you prefer!

I don't care. Rhialto if you have a question fire away. I would have to go find something.

Hmmm, so a quick consultation of the tome of esoteric surface knowledge reveals a contradiction: "brilliant cut" are typically referred to as "cone-shaped", whereas these are "pyramid-shaped"...in any case, I yield the floor as my Hyperborean knowledge is slim.

How are snake-men able to take the guise of sages and assume advisory positions to kings and
overlords, knights and nobles?
Offline
Through their ability to shape-change/alter self at will. I've used this numerous times in my game, to great effect.
Offline
correct

For the record, if I were a king, overlord, knight, and/or noble and a six-foot-tall walking snake from a race ancient when we were still thrashing about in the sea offered to advise me, I'd order as many white mice as I could, toss them in a tureen, and tell it to go nuts!

I was reading one of the modules with the Yith and then the Bestiary entry for them...starting to get some ideas for both of them but in radically different ways.

Just a little thread necromancy here...
How many gods are of Law and what are their signs?

Apollo: Lyre
Artemis: arrows over a black sun

Sharath! As featured most recently in the updates on the AS&SH second edition. Gets 'em while they're hot.

Hooked throwing knife, ignores AC bonus provided by an opponents shield (if any).
So, next up..
