Some of our house rules

I dont know if these would work for anyone but as our table house rules the hell out of any system. Here is what we use.
Adventure Dice (one or more D6)
Adventure Dice combine inspiration, skills, and feats into one flexible mechanic. Characters begin every session with this type of dice. The higher the character’s experience level, the more dice they have:
Character Level Deathbringer Dice
1-2=2
 3-4=3
5-6=4
7-8=5
9+ =6

Players can spend a  Die to: Add d6 to any d20 roll. Inflict an additional d6 damage. Block d6 damage.
Multiple dice can be added to the same roll. Players may horde these  until the final encounter if they wish. A player may also give their dice to another player.
These dice may not: Alter a roll of Natural 1 on the d20. Add to initiative rolls. Be saved until the next session. Use them or lose them!
Gaining D6 dice
At any time the GM may award additional dice for good roleplaying, clever thinking, or for enhancing the game for everyone at the table.
The GM can also use these dice to adjust the difficulty during play. If the players are plagued by bad die rolls, the GM can award more D6. If the players are having too easy of a time, the GM can withhold dice.
Players can use these dice to customize their characters or make them more versatile. Want to be an expert archer? Use them every time you shoot a bow. Want to be a martial arts master? Use them to increase hand-to-hand combat. Did the rogue miss tonight’s session? No problem! Use these dice to disarm the trap! Need to take out that guard in one shot? Use them to cause extra damage.
Only player characters get these extra dice. NPCs and monsters do not.
Pro Tip #1: make these dice a different, uniform color so they don’t become confused with the other 6-sided dice at your table.
Pro Tip #2: The starting number of dice is based on a 3-4 hour game session. If your session is longer, you may need to give more dice to start. A good rule of thumb is +1 D6 for every hour over 4.
