They seem to be "trending" right now, solely due to their internal piecharts making their way across social media. These show percentages of gamers using their system, leading folks to mistakenly assume that this is representative of the tabletop hobby as a whole.

I think more than anything, they are cheaper than Roll20 (by Half in most instances), they have a bunch more integration to the content than Roll20, and the app is run locally, allowing a DM to have near unlimited custom content available to him, unlike roll20 which is 100% cloud-based and you upload your content to them, and they the limit space, and the size of files.

Tiny-pic has been problematic in the past. I use Imgur.

I'll take a peek at Imgur.  But are you able to make the Upload attachment option included with the forum work for you? It auto links me to imgbb which allows me to upload a file but does not link embed the image in the post.

I upload my pics to my account and when I select the image I get about 6 ways to post the content directly...

Selecting Direct link, then using the forum image post, I paste the direct link into the box and it pops in inline to the comment.

I kind of figured it was something like that.

If not building the core book(s) and modules into the "Fantasy Grounds" content, do you think there is an issue with North Wind Adventures Content being created so users could use the base system in their interface (character sheets, basic content, basic rules).

I've played ASSH in Roll20, but has anyone started working on or trying to start ASSH in Fantasy grounds? It looks to be a better system (and cheaper).

Maybe also a question for Jeff & Co, Has there been any consideration to "license" out ASSH into Roll20/FantasyGrounds/Other online tabletop sites/apps?

I like the idea of Elves/Dwarves in the setting. However, for myself I would have them as NPCs only. I'm a Norse History buff, so they (and some other races) are in the Sagas, but I prefer the all human character feeling of ASSH's setting.

Hi All,

Just wanted to get the discussions started on this year's upcoming TotalCon. TotalCon's ASSH Event Count has been increasing each year, Last year there were 11 events, this year there should be more, as Hyperborea is really starting to catch on in this region!

I've submitted a bunch of events this year, so likely will not have much of a chance to play. But in any case, I can't wait to hang out with you all...

My Events are a single Module "Problems in Freydisborg" broken into four, 4 hour sessions.
* Part 1: Thursday Night 7-11 pm
* Part 2: Friday Night 7-11 PM
* Part 3: Saturday 12-4 pm
* Part 4: Saturday Night 7-11 pm

I hope some of you can attend, and attendance to all 4 modules are not required, each section will be stand alone, but will be part of a larger module I'm designing.

Looking forward to it already!

It might be easier to do a numbered outline of the main map hexes, with a drop-down of the major city locations for easy access. Or even (with Jeff's permission) put a map with a clickable hex layout as the opening page of the app. Then for the 26-mile hex that my adventurers are in you would know the terrain and be able to modify the randomized weather accordingly.

Also noted that you mention rolling a Natural 1 on the Identify magical properties, that should be rolling a natural 12, as a 1 would be a perfect roll. Your rolling for a Lower than X on a D12, not higher than X on a D20, thus 1 is not a critical fail...

I just can't suspend disbelief on a 13 year year with regards to animal/crop/plant growth and health

Also you have to consider that Hyperborea also is rumored to have a considerable UnderBorea, so they live an function without light all the time, so life can exist without lite for extended periods of time, also think of the possibility that even though there is no visible light, there may still be Ultraviolet, Infrared or other spectrum energies in Hyperborea that are possibly always on. Though there are a lot of Native to Old earth like plants and animals, they may have adapted or blended with other Hyperborean native plants to adapt.  Or Hell, it's a kind of magic world...

Other than on this forum, finding an AS&SH game, is difficult. I know of only 3 GM's that routinely run AS&SH on Roll20 And one is on Hiatus till hopefully only Fall, and the other two had full games that I know of. (I'm in one, and was going to be in the other, but the day is a conflict with real life). You can try looking on Roll20 Directly to see if anyone else is starting up a game. Also, I may be starting up play testing on Roll20 sometime this fall for an upcoming module I'm writing. You can also try some of the other more traditional "LFG" forums, like the Reddit community, and if you advertise that your looking for something in the DFW area, you may get into a more traditional D&D game that maybe you can convince to try AS&SH...

There an area on the map, along the river Vol where there is a section with 3 lakes and a branch of the Vol. it's an area about 26 miles in space, bordered on 3 sides (plus a little on the 4th side) with the river/lakes. It looks like a nice confined space and it's mostly grasslands (rolling hills). Unless you need a more hilly area, then there is a location to the east of the Kimmerian Stepp, it's a 26-mile grassland surrounded by hills, but it's more like a week travel.

If one applies the real world rules of 3, then the following cases can be used by the GM..

3 minutes without air=death
3 hours without shelter (exposed to extreme weather)=death
3 days without water=death
3 weeks without food=death

Using those real-world examples, The GM should be able to interpret some negative impacts as a character moves closer to the death option of each condition.

Example: 3 days without water will kill a human (real world), but before that, there will be notable consequences,
Day one, a little dizziness, some lack of dexterity, disorientation,
Day two, significant dizziness, disorientation, concentration. Stamina, strength and Dexterity issues.
Day three, No concentration (no spell use), Significant; Stamina, Dexterity, strength, intelligence, wisdom across the board.
Day four, Death save days, if passed, then keep layering on the reductions in Int, Str, Wis, Dex, Stam...
Day Five or more, Death Save with lowered stats, and is still passed, again lower all stats and start heading the character to a coma state.

this of course only a suggestion, a GM can make their own rules.

Hmm, I supposed it could, but it may also be able to shift them elsewhere in the universe, including back to the "Old World", Perhaps to an unearthly relm (one of the Godly planes), or something like a parrell universe. But looking at the spell, It seems to describe a shift into the "Shadowy Realm", so It could be Underborea if you want to go that way. Your the GM, make it how you want...

The sorcerer transports himself and as many as six allies (all holding hands) to a realm unseen, a place of shadows, smoke, death, and destruction, where all is ruin and where dwell forlorn spirits, shadowy beasts, and other nameless horrors. Those transported by plane shift are cursed to forever remain in this realm of despair unless brought back by the sorcerer or some other agent. Encounters in this shadowy realm are entirely possible, as the referee will determine, and frequent visitors are more likely to garner attention. If this spell is used offensively to banish an opponent, the target must be of 6 HD or fewer and is allowed a sorcery saving throw to resist its effects.
