At first glance, I would reduce weapon mastery to one to start with. Only the pure fighter (well, kind of the cataphract, too, but that's different) should start with two, because (IMO) the standard fighter should have some skills that the subclasses don't. Secondly, although you have put forth a few limitations on identify magical properties, I think there should also be time requirement. When you look at the identify spell, it costs the caster a lot. This skill should not relegate the spell to being a distant second in its utility. I love this concept. Great work.

It should also be noted that Jim is part of the AS&SH family, as he designed the layout of the box for our original boxed set!

Great job! I have shared it at our Twitter, Facebook, and MeWe pages. I think you have a great, upbeat delivery, and you make a point to familiarize yourself with each topic (and subtopic) before speaking. Cheers!

I'm more curious about what the heck that otter is doing on that bird's (kingfisher?) back in your avatar. LOL

OK, I'll let Boardhost know. Thanks!

Looks like the forum has changed their picture hosting service, so we must adjust accordingly. Tinypic is gone.

Hi Trevor,

Great review of the screen! We actually had a thread somewhere on this forum in which we had a long discussion on what tables referees wanted to see on the screen. Of course, we couldn't do them all, but I think we hit on most of the important ones. Cheers!

Sure, don't forget the set found in Forgotten Fane of the Coiled Goddess, as pertains to the mini-setting within the setting, The Lemurian Remnant.

Rules Discussion » Ran my first ASSH game last night... Question about Phased Combat » 9/01/2019 6:59 pm

The easiest, simplest way to grasp phased combat is this: Most everything happens on phase one, unless the PCs or monsters are trying to do something extra that is going to force them to act at the end of the round (phase 2).

This could mean moving ½ and then casting a spell. Normally a spell fires on phase 1, unless the spell caster wants to move.

Another example is taking a full movement before melee attacking (½ move on phase 1, ½ move and attack on phase 2). Because in a normal phase 1 situation, it's just move ½ and attack, but if your fighter has a MV 30 and his opponent is 25 feet away, he is going to go at the end of the round. For many more examples, see tables 90, 91, and 92.

We're taking preorders from now until September 1 for a new batch of canvas maps. I'll have some extras that will be available at the online store, but these will be very limited.

Woohoo! Ghul didn't hate the idea!

I've thought about it a bit and I think I'll go with the die progression idea.

I would have to ponder Iron Ranger's experience idea a bit.

First though, I'll try out the base idea and see how it plays out.

Die progression would be my preference, too. I wish I'd thought of it!

You did when you changed the Becoming Lost roll from d6 with a party with no wilderness trained classes to d8 to one that does have such a class.

Keeping with the "normal" set of dice gives 3 more improvement levels possible (d10, d12, d20). If one wanted to bake that into the class then those could come at levels 3, 6, 9 or 6, 9, 12 depending upon how generous one wants to be.

Oh, I know -- I meant for situations like you described, in which multiple character types with that skillset are present and working together.
