Just curious, since I'm late to the game...is ASSH based primarily on OSRIC, and is this module compatible with Hyperborea?
Sorry if this is a dead horse...

Don't we all.
The best write up of traps I have seen (and I have seen many) was in an unlikely source. Have you ever looked at the light rpg Zenobia, free on-line? It's a fictional 'historic' rpg set in or around 260 AD about the city state Palmyra and Queen Zenobia. It's one of those settings that would go with the ASSH rules like white on rice. The discussion of traps goes into details about triggers, types, how to combine traps, etc. Worth a look for even the most jaded of GMs, I picked up some good hints and I've been at this...longer than I want to admit.

LOL, that's what I thought you would say, about the rules modifications I mean.
What I will do is adopt the vitality system (it seems to lend a bit of 'realism' for me, it just makes sense) and keep the random roll but give several depending on INT. There are a couple of other small things but you would definitely recognize your game at my table.
Oh, one serious request for a rules addition...traps.

I have got a box full of minis from that era, into the mid eighties, in a box on the shelf. Several hundred dollars spent on them and all unpainted. All lead or pewter, covering most standard fantasy beasties including several of the iconic d&d dragon 'colors'.  I just never seemed to get in the mood to paint them.
Think they would be worth anything?

Yep, moves are baaaaaaad. Our family just had to pitch in and help my mother in law (89) move into an assisted living condominium type place. I think we still haven't completely unpacked from our last move, either.
For the record, George couldn't do anything but what he did in the movie...sink.
I am looking forward to those modules. Your game is capturing me and taking me away from BRP style systems, which got too complex. About the only thing I am dissatisfied with are the background skills...I mean, what is the point of 'thatcher' or 'fuller'?
While I'm thinking about it, after the kickstarter when you begin on the hardback, could you consider slimming that background skill list down, and using Akrasia's vitality rules for hit points? Two of my few house rules, I just think they would add a little something to the game...

Thanks, that makes sense well enough.

About the charge vs. archer, I'm not sure about it, not all the time at least. That was what I thought but it just doesn't feel quite right.

It's usually best not to over analyze these things. Stormbringer certainly had a lot of things that had to be played fast and loose. ASSH is somewhat more rules heavy (except the lack of a dedicated skill sub system) than I am used to, so things that the GM has to make judgements on are a little glaring to me so far. I am going to try to run it raw, mostly, so I need to have the rules locked down.

Well, thank you, your response does help.

I am an old RQ/Stormbringer/CoC GM and in studying the ASSH rules I am running into some bits that I honestly do not understand.
1) Why is distance measured in feet indoors and yards outdoors?
2) Is each five feet or yards translatable to one hex or square on a battleboard?
3) Would an archer being charged by a melee weapon wielding antagonist get to fire first even though the charging npc had won intitiative?
Three will do for now, thanks for any input given...

I'm setting aside three twenties NOW.
Are these to be in color, like on his site? Depends on the kickstarter results, I suppose?

Is there a usable gamescreen out there that anyone knows of, perhaps a fan created one?
If not, will there be an official one at some point in time?
It would be a great help for this game.

Yeah, like Tarzan.

This sounds like an excellent concept for ASSH, as it fits the 'flavor' of the setting to a 't'. I am hesitant to use the Ranger as is in the rules because it like the Paladin don't seem to fit in well to me (Paladin reminds me of King Arthur and Charlemagne), and would probably replace it with this, rather than keep both.

I'm not sure about the roots, but I have the distinct impression that it would match up with ASSH quite well, and with Crypts and Things even better....the magic spells are divided up into white, grey and black varieties already. A BIG boost for anyone using Akrasia's color magic house rule right off the bat.
I've been reading through both and noticed that some spells that are presented differently in various versions of the game are written up similarly to ASSH, for instance Magic Missile and Continual Light or equivalent.
It's definitely deserving of a space next to ASSH, though.
I got the soft cover from Amazon and it's well worth the price.

It has appropriate character races, classes, equipment, psionics, a different take on priests, and nods to planetary romance scattered throughout the rules. For instance, stats for skyboats in the vehicle section.
It is a little more than in the ASSH rules, but not anything like half the rules or such.
Sorry if that disappoints, but it is still essentially a fantasy s&s game.
I think it could be used for ERBs Mars with some work, there is certainly enough to get started...but it's not a done deal for the genre. I think it's there for more flavor for those who like an element of weird science and planetary romance mixed with their swords and sorcery.
