I start a fire. Warlock search the room for us.

I break the table!

The table splinters easily, and Malak starts a fire while Emral warms himself, pondering.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Since you are nearing the end of Fox, you know daylight is far away, and when it comes it will be short.
The sound of the heavy sleet continues to drift in from the 2 opened windows above, a hypnotic drone that eventually lulls you both to sleep where you sit.....

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Before sleeping Emral makes sure to fill the lantern for the night, and any study of his spellbook he might need.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

A sudden, cracking SNAP! and a high pitched screaming jolts you both awake.

Emral's spell book falls from his lap to the floor. His first thought is did he finish the chapter or not? [roll d12]

The fire is out. The lantern still burns. The sleet is stopped.
The sick red rays of the sun have yet to pierce the darkness, but dawn is near.

The screaming sounds come from outside through the windows overhead.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

1d12: 3?

Putting the spellbook into the pack first, getting back up and drawing his sword, Emral tries to determine the direction and whether it’s a human or spectral scream.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Burning Hands is securely ingrained.

The screams are outside drifting in through the small windows over head on the left wall. They sound like the cries of small game.

1)  So I can cast BH for whatever slots I have handy?

2)  How high are the windows? I'm considering looking through the window.

3)  Did we get hit points back, or is that not how AS&SH works with healing?

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

If needed, I can give you a boost to look out the windows

1 - remember - a 2nd level warlock still has 1 spell, Emral's high INT allows for an extra cast of it a day.

2 - When you first came in the room, Malak and Emral thought the wondows might be asa high as 15 ft. but in the dim ruddy rays of dawn, they look more like 12ft. The table might have been a good booster?

3 -  hit point recovery is rolled using the character’s HD type, plus constitution modifier Emral at -2 to the die, as he notices the rusted dagger wound in his leg has begun to leak pus overnight.

I show Malak at full 9 & Emral at 10 of 14.

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

window: 12 feet is pretty high. Emral is 6ft, a table is usually around 3 or 4. Hurt arm so pulling himself up won't be easy per se.

Is the worship area of the temple solid wall or are there cracks or windows that we could look through?

"I'm pretty heavy with my armor, but one good leg and lean against a wall, and I can hold you up a moment."  Emral puts his shoulder to the wall, readies his strong leg, and lets Malak climb up.

What was Emral's healing roll?

Malak stands upon Emral to get a boost up, then attempts to climb the rough stone wall. [roll d12]

Re: The Scorched Sanctuary

Malak shimmies up the wall with no problem and grabs the sill, pulling himself up to peek out.

He can't get a great look  down to the ground below, as he is holding his bodyweight, but he can see that the dying sun's rays are lightening the sky.
20 ft across the way there is another section of the church building.
In front on the left is a wooden belfry which is unburned, with stairs leading up to a huge metal bell.
The screaming suddenly ceases.

Yes and +4 brings you back to full 14. Correct?
