Re: Hyperborean Encounter Tables!

Welcome back to daily encounters! In this episode, your players have ventured into the forests of Trogos, another ape-men-infested area. What will they encounter there?

14 giant bombardier beetles!
23 ape-men!
16 aurochs
6 ape-men
10 rats
20 ape-men!
16 ape-men!
30 troglodytes! – only at night
2 giant toads
1 giant stag beetle
10 giant ants!
5 giant frogs!
6 ape-men

Ape-men! Quelle surprise.

Re: Hyperborean Encounter Tables!

Time for your daily encounter! Today your players are clambering around on a glaciated volcano on Ullr's Island. Which part of that is not a bad idea?

90 giant bats! (luckily only at night, but this could be a random TPK)
1 giant weasel (night only)
3 mountain apes!
Ash eruption! (could be another random TPK)
Geyser!
1 giant weasel – but only at night
1 giant weasel (only at night)
Fever (weasel fever, maybe?)
4 wolves
2 wolverines
5 mountain lions!
Meteor shower!
Poison gas! Luckily only “stinking cloud” strength.

Man, natural events on a volcano are a killer. And weirdly, no hunting parties on “Viking Hunting Island”. Maybe they knew about the impending eruption?

Re: Hyperborean Encounter Tables!

It's that time again - daily encounters! In this installment, your very foolish players are climbing on glaciated mountains near the Valley of the Mists. What will they meet there?

5 mountain lions!
6 vhuurmis
1 gibbering mouther!
1 giant weasel (night only)
1 gargoyle
Thin ice (over 60’ hole!)
Box canyon
1 cyclops!
1 hyaena-man
Fever
2 Great Race!
1 tentacular horror!
6 minotaurs!

Good lord! More alien horrors than you can shake a +1 stick at.

Re: Hyperborean Encounter Tables!

Daily encounter time! Today your players are in the hills of Vikland. What will they meet there?

Hunting party of 12 bowmen and 15 dogs led by Eirikr. They have bagged 3 boars!
Hunting party of 13 bowmen and 6 dogs led by Gunnhildr. They haven’t bagged anything yet.
1 giant chameleon
Snowstorm!
26 reindeer
Snorri (10th level berserker!)
Box canyon
Lost
Sleet storm
23 aurochs
22 wild berserkers!
6 boars
1 viper

About what you'd expect in a Viking area.

Re: Hyperborean Encounter Tables!

Welcome back to daily encounters! In this installment, your players have entered the creepy cult village of Wold Phellora. Hey, what's with the octopus statue?

13 stirges!
1 viper
Patrol of 18 light infantry cultists led by Imbos (11th level fighter!)
Heat wave! But only in a desert, so no encounter.
1 intelligent, evil giant weasel (only at night)
Patrol of 19 light infantry cultists led by Sinuthaim (8th level fighter).
Patrol of 9 light infantry cultists led by Ganos (6th level fighter) and accompanied by Thulornos (5th level magician).
1 domesticated woolly mammoth
Sleet storm
1 riding horse
1 intelligent, evil giant weasel (only at night)
Heat wave! But only in a desert, so no encounter.
7 bird-men

The cult village definitely had some cultists. What nefarious plot do you suppose they're brewing with the bird-men?

Re: Hyperborean Encounter Tables!

Time for your daily encounter! This time your players have made landfall on Xenadon, another island inhabited by a witch and her crazed servants - in this case renegade Amazons, although it seems they are (sadly) fully clothed. How many will your players meet?

1 black bear
21 aurochs
1 viper
11 giant ants!
Patrol of 18 renegade Amazon medium infantry led by Alexandra (4th level fighter) and accompanied by Artemisia (10th level magician!)
Violet lotus!
1 giant komodo dragon
Hunting party of 13 renegade Amazon archers and 18 dogs led by Theodosia. They haven’t taken any game.
Patrol of 18 renegade Amazon medium infantry led by Eudoxia (3rd level fighter). I guess the hunters tipped them off (if the PCs let any survive, that is).
11 giant frogs!
Hunting party of 20 renegade Amazon archers and 7 dogs led by Black Artemisia. They haven’t taken any game either.
Violet lotus!
Insect swarm!

Nasty spot. Meanwhile, we're up to the letter X - getting very close to the end!

Re: Hyperborean Encounter Tables!

Welcome back to daily encounters! Today your players have made the trek to the plateau of Xin, where lots of unpleasant things lurk. What will they encounter there?

4 giant black centipedes
Sippy (8th level Chaotic Good monk)
Fever
4 hyaena-men
Lost
Mirage!
Aurora, leading to an alien encounter: 4 rust monsters!
Vermin (PC lost food)
Insect swarm! Probably locusts.
4 ape-men
1 large animal skeleton
24 dromedary camels
8 wild dogs

It could have been worse.

Daily encounter time! In this episode, your players have entered the city of Yithorium, home of the dreaded Witch Queen of Ditto. What will they meet there?

30 slaves being taken to the mines, escorted by 17 light infantry brutal mercenary thugs working for the Witch Queen led by Ilcemor (12th level fighter!) Can the PCs do anything to help (and will they even care)?
1 riding horse
1 ghul! (and Yithorium is actually located in a desert) Could be a random TPK…
1 small animal skeleton
1 domesticated woolly mammoth
Patrol of 15 light infantry brutal mercenary thugs working for the Witch Queen led by Lustaivon (3rd level fighter). Probably looking for escaped slaves.
2 night-gaunts (man, Yithorium is a really fun city)
Sleet storm – doesn’t apply in the desert
2 gargoyles
Snowstorm – but not in a desert
Simpralleor (2nd level Chaotic Good cleric) accompanied by 3 1st level assistants and 7 mercenary light infantry. Probably trying to save the souls of the Queen’s depraved subjects.
Patrol of 17 medium infantry brutal mercenary thugs working for the Witch Queen led by Fulotha (2nd level fighter).
1 domesticated donkey

Ha ha I rolled a ghul! The Witch Queen sure knows how to put the F-U-N in "FUNgi from Yuggoth" (hey, you try making jokes about all of these). http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/cute.png

Re: Hyperborean Encounter Tables!

Welcome back to daily encounters! In this installment, your players have traveled to the deadly Ythaqqa Plateau. Stupid decision or very stupid decision? (Yes.)

1 albino ape (night only)
5 abominable snow-men
Vermin (PC lost water)
1 ape-man
160 musk-oxen
2 abominable snow-men
Lost
Frostbite!
21 bactrian camels
Snow blind!
4 ape-men
1 albino ape (night only)
15 blink dogs!

That was a little unpleasant. It could have been worse though...
