The Yig priest looks good!

Cheers, I thought to add some personal objects, like the staff and dagger as it obviously suits the Character, these I guess could also be used as holy symbols. Though perhaps if they are lost, they can be replaced or cult could insist they be replaced by Mystic of Yig or to seek new owner and destroy them and restore favour, etc. Best leave to individual GM to decide such fate!

Sure I will add to documents this afternoon and re-post! No problem!

Thanks! I use Campaign Cartographer 3 Plus, which is an autocad program with the graphical elements put on "sheets" which can then have effects applied to them (such as transparency or glow). It was an easy matter to put the grid sheet below the heraldry, text, compass rose, and city marker sheets, and above everything else. It took maybe five minutes to add the grid.

Getting the map to export correctly is another story! http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/smile.png

Nice 1...

Just did a search on it and the got site, so no more questions... It looks very good, though.

Yes, that a future stage for me; is how to make bigger maps and store and work on them in my Win10 computer (with Photoshop10), because the actual program I use is on a win2000xp old computer (with an old program: Photostudio 5.5, which I think is better than PS10) and it a little slow with the big stuff!

Do you mean that you're seeing a big "error" message when you first click on the link? That's because the file is too large for mediafire to display a preview. To see the map you will actually have to download it (click on "download" at the upper right of that screen, then "download" on the next screen). If you're getting an error at that point, I'm not sure what's causing it.

If you don't want to download it because you're worried about viruses, I certainly understand that. I can't guarantee that mediafire doesn't have any.

Yes, as page: 130 of 2nd Edition AS&SH or Page: 259. Your Character needs to roll 13 or higher.

Just had time to compare your map with the older version you did a few years back. Fantastic, adding in the extra locations, gives the map an extra interesting feeling from your original map!

Adding things like 'Thunder Pass,' in Griff Mountains makes it again more stimulating, but both maps are very good, even this one is an obvious improvement!

Cheers

Tolkien's Middle-Earth works well with corruption rules that twist the mind and body.

Example:
The Elves where corrupted by Morgoth's will and became orcs.
Maia: Turned into Balrogs, demonic servants, etc. (those corrupted by Morgoth's will of coarse).
Túrin's Madness, was caused by Morgoth's curse, but also by his own confusion and pride.
Dwarves' greed (madness) has cause them to attack Allied Elves and they even killed Thingol; a great Elven king.
And Elves self-righteous arrogance, cause them to have three major kin-slaying-episodes in the Silmarillion.

This is not saying it should be regarded as a possibility for the Hyborian Age, it is just another example of Corruption rules in RPGs.

The "One Ring," game use 'Shadow,' Points, but they can be healed (like being in a peaceful place), but if one gains a Shadow Point in a "Bout of Madness," the point becomes permanent. Simple and effective rule, also being made a lesser Wraith, is a form of corruption; if stabbed by a Morgul Blade, but that is a rare thing!

I not know rules well, yet, but more Shadow points, the more sicken one comes with life, either retiring Character or risk him joining the dark side of the force!

I personally do not think Sorcerers should grow extra body parts (unless they want to?), but corruption is a kind of distancing self from Humanity; they use others like cattle to sacrifice for their own power, etc. This mentality can be governed by corruption, which leads to madness (but, madness does not mean: fear of spiders, or drooling in a corner; afraid of the light), as the change of their perception of life to an altered state, i.e.: more demonic in perspective; above (or below) Humanity (Life), instead of being apart of it.

I had a similar idea, based on Mongooses Heroic stat arrangement, but the Mongoose Heroic Characters are Based on 1d10+8. (They still have a 4d6 remove lowest order).

The theory at it basically 3.0 or 3.5 rules, that only a -1 negative can be achieved and no lower, with 9 minimum.

But, Like Under_Score, I have thought to arrange the dice, so at Heroic Character, could roll 1d8+10 x2, 1d0+8 x2, then 4d6 remove lowest for remaining two attributes (arrange as suits), just of course for some major heroic group. Not an idea for every game, just the odd one for a different perspective.

I do enjoy being the snarling old soldier when it comes to any OD&D game...

In game where listen rolls, detect rolls are required, the people playing in the games I was part of agreed that it best if GM does those rolls. A little more work for GM though, but it better that way!

I only played in one game,"Hackmaster," where GM rolled  every dice, was unusual, but it not bother me to much, but I would prefer to roll my own combat dice for good or bad!

The immature player does try to ruin a game by making their action seem only to work for them if they succeed and maybe they think it is fun to spoil others fun by aggravating them for their own personal amusement. As a GM I would tell them to show more consideration to others, but it also would/has ruined my fun as I get angry; and I was at the game to enjoy myself also, but if things go really bad, GM (and I pardon myself for those few times) forgets any moderation and kills offender's character and any poor bystanders that might get in the way! Hmm, I sure there is a happy balance, but I not found that yet.

The main problem is your not GMing a game to psychoanalyse other players and it very difficult find the right cure to problem, when you never were looking for a problem in the first place. So, I sympathies with you if it happens and would suggest explaining yourself to these people in a quiet place and hopefully give them time to mature (though this might take years), but it better than, well it better that, in fact I not know what it better than.

Better that strangling them to death.
Getting 15 years in jail...
Loosing control of your angelic form and turning in to a beast as part of nature!!!
Etc. etc.

The Thieves World of Gazipur

This map is of "Sanctuary," Thieves World which I got with the box-set in 1981. I have for about 2-3 years being trying to incorporate it into the Hyborian Age, though 200 years before Conan was born.

It now Gazipur, a conquered Turanian city on the Vilayet Sea, North of the Turan Territories prime.

I have added more walls, houses, etc., changed or added more street names and removed the mass of dots as map was from central map of one of the booklets and was shaded to explain regions within city.

The link is to a post on my forum, but from there, you can get to map.

Gazipur

The way I get the Conan world is humanity is alone, versus the dark cosmos and the hordes of unspeakable things which occupy it! Still there is of course entities that work for good, though rare and like Yag-kosha, but still an alien and he still came from a world of cruelty and was fleeing it.

I not opposed to people creating their worlds the way they wish to create them, Celtic myth includes elves and Norse of course includes dwarves. There also has been a few statements in Howard's Conan works of the concept of goblins, but whether they exist or not is another matter.

It is just I prefer, the doom and gloom feeling of isolation in the dark ....

The truth is I enjoy the Lord of the Ring format, just not in the Hyborian Age and not think it works for Hyperborea, either.
