along similar lines, have you heard these Swedes in recent years? Damn find 'Painkiller' era style traditional heavy metal. Love it! And I'm sure they're due for a new album very soon.

I had not heard of them, and what a lovely way to start my day of work. Wow! My faith in the survival of metal is restored! Thanks so much, blackmote!

I followed up on the word choice of "laminated". Whilst the linen type is popular, laminated armour is not limited to this style (linothorax). Thanks for bringing it up, Doctor Rob.

Listening to some Orange Goblin to change things up a bit

Somehow I missed this post, and yet I swear I listened to two Orange Goblin albums in a row about a week ago after having not listened to them for several months. Good stuff.

ARGUS - another underground band that I've had the pleasure to see on stage, as well as work with when they headlined a show I produced here in Atlanta several years ago. They've repeatedly been to England and Ireland in recent years, and are due to tour Europe this year. They're also due a new album very soon, so if you like what you hear, bookmark their bandcamp page and their Facebook and watch for news. \m/

side note to Ghul... their vocalist is Brian Balich (Arduini/Balich).

I'll have to listen to this today. Thanks!

Received my balance due notice today for shipping and the cloth map. Paid in full. http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/wink.png

I assume that means we're getting close to release? http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png

Yes sir, Mr. Fox, every day getting closer, though a September start for shipping is starting to look more realistic than August, but we shall see.

Any new word on the Orange 20?

It remains on hold, because the effort to produce them, put them for sale, and ship them represents a stoppage of workflow on the hardback, which is not something I'm willing to do at the moment. Once I get all the 2E files to the printer, I will have more breathing room. Thanks for your interest, though!

Hi Doctor Rob,

You make a great point regarding the chosen nomenclature, which can be tricky subject -- even for the so-called experts (and amateur enthusiasts). Still, what you point to makes sense. I'll talk about it with David.

As far as your second observation, I think that once we head down the rabbit hole of genericising various items in order to open up the setting to different interpretations, we lose more than we gain. So, I prefer to leave such transcriptions in the capable hands of the individual referees. I do appreciate the thought!

I'll leave you to digest these bands, then I'll return soon with more inspirational metal. \m/

Guitar player reminds me a lot of Vivian Campbell. Good stuff.

You are speaking my language, blackmote! This is epic, and I'd never heard of them before. Looks like it's their second record. Nice find!
